The one that got away.... Well, it was going to take UWM playing their best and Butler playing their. That almost happened last night. I don't see that opportunity presenting itself again when UWM travels to Hinkle Fieldhouse.
UWM showed some good things in that game. They are growing up and coming together a bit. I would like to see Mauldin out there more than 4 minutes...can someone explain that to me. I am also sad that gentry and thornton never worked themselves into the rotation. I worry that they wasted a year of eligibility by not being redshirted this year. hindsight is 20/20, right. I do like that Anderson has played his way into getting some minutes. He plays hard, has some talent, and some height.
the game left me thinking that perhaps UWM can win some conference games?

Just a one time gig, I'm afraid. Yeah, the hard part definitely was trying to play off Bill and not step on his call. I stumbled on that a few times, but I think I got better as the game progressed. There's a fine line between adding insight and interfering, and no doubt it takes some practice. And conversely Bill was doing his best to set me up, but without knowing me all that well that was tough for him to do, too. Anyway, I had a great time and hope I helped make the broadcast a little more enjoyable. Bud and Jason can call on me whenever they want, but I think they plan to keep it to auction winners. The absolute hardest part was that I so often wanted to cheer a great Panther play or explode at a boneheaded call, and of course I couldn't do either!

I loved the references to the crew cut official...oh I laughed so hard a couple of times I almost fell off my chair. He was rather ridiculous wasn't he? wasn't it like 4 charge calls that he made against us...BS...and I thought Kay was set was he not?

"I would like to see Mauldin out there more than 4 minutes...can someone explain that to me."
Yes, just watch him when he is on the floor and you will see for yourself. He seems like he's lost out there. He's one of our big's, but doesn't seem to have a handle on things yet; Massiah on the other hand is doing great right now. Although, he did not produce very much stat wise against Butler. He did make both of his free throws something we strugled in.
Avery has been a thrill to watch with his no look passes, unconventional shot, ability to take it in the paint, and a constant determination to win. The dump pass he made to Massiah against Wyoming and the 3-point shot as the shot clock hit zero against Butler are some of the seasons highlights.
Ricky Franklin is looking a lot more comfortable out there. His shots didn't always go in (FG/FGA 2/5), but they were good shots that looked clean and were close to being in.
Skinner is also starting to develop. Does anyone know what his vertical is? He has some ups.
Our defense was very good. The team seems to be doing better as a whole in the past two games. Wish that we could have had a better free throw percentage (Game: 51.9%), possibly could have had this one if it was.
I think that the crowd in general was great. I'm impressed, as many have said, of the number alums/season ticket holders/non-students at the games this season. The student section was also relatively good for this season. Hopefully with how entertaining these past two game have been attendance will continue to improve.

Good point about Ricky. I thought he had his best game yesterday, even though he fouled out. Mostly aggressive fouls, and I can live with that. He was strong in the post last night.
In fact, the whoile team really started attacking the rim and finding low post position in the second half last night, and that's great to see. That's Jeter-ball.

Yes in the second half they were getting it down in the post more.
I still feel several times a game they are missing easy opportunities though. When that cutter comes along the baseline hit him at the basket while he still has a couple of steps on the defender. Don't wait 'till he sets up and the defender is on him already.
I don't know maybe that's too hard to do. I haven't played organized ball since Junior High, but that doesn't seem like it would be too hard to get done. I guess it would depend upon the athletic ability of the guy receiving the pass, if he can catch the ball and get it up to the rim in time.
And while I'm at it...Paige Paulsen!!! For gosh sakes boy!!! If no one is between you and the bucket, go to the f-ing hole and call for the ball!!! Don't pull up at 10 feet and stand there!!!
