I know most of you think get short changed in coverage in the paper. While I would like to see more, we do get some coverage. Lead Story www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=541100Team Comparsions... www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=541071Blog for tomorrow's game... www.jsonline.com/blog/?id=255I assume there will be more. Let's face it, lots of people read the paper that are casual fans of the program. Lots of those same people will watch this game. This game is a good opportunity for the team to show they are making progress. I really, really hope we can do that. This is an important game for us to show people that this team is capable of being competitive even this year. Even this year, I feel that any press is good press. I still think we are getting pretty good coverage, all things considered. This thread should not turn into another "bash the JS" thread, I just wanted to point out how important this game is to us for the perception or our program in Milwaukee and also Wisconsin. I hope we have some really positive things to talk about after the game.

We're not getting "pretty good coverage, all things considered" until the J-S covers this team home and away regardless of record, reputation or circumstance. To have missed two games on the recent road trip, especially the game against inarguably one of the top few teams in the powerful MVC, is inexcusable. That having been said, none of that falls on Bobbi. It falls entirely on Garry Howard's shoulders. All in all, this is a very fair preview and if you want to take it one step further, the Badgers have the intangibles tomorrow night given that the Panthers threw quite a scare into them a year ago. In short, I can't think of one area where Milwaukee has the advantage in this game.

There is one area where we do have an advantage. No one expects us to win. The team can relax and maybe catch the Badgers unaware

Here's the national AP preview for the game. You'll never see this carried in the Journal-Sentinel even if they didn't do their own preview, if only because we are referred to as Milwaukee in every reference after the first. Gary Howard would burn the presses to the ground first. Or just doctor the original article and any quotes, as needed, as he's done in the past. sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/preview?gid=200612130657

By the way, that wasn't bashing the JS. That was called observation.

We're not getting "pretty good coverage, all things considered" How are we not? Face it we suck this year, and the general public doesn't want to read about us. Today we are front page and we haven't even done anything its just a preview. If we beat the badgers we will have a huge picture on the front page tomorrow, but we aren't going to get any coverage until we get better and stay better. They get more then us but MU doesn't get that great of coverage either for being a good big east team. This isn't Madison where everything is Badgers, we have to share with many pro, semi, pro and college teams.

Like the J-S will deploy a team of sports writers to cover a "rebuilding" team that pulls in 2000 for a home game. The interest just isn't there at the moment and I don't blame the Urinal at all. They're having a hard enough time selling papers as it is. If they don't fill it up with at least twelve articles about the Packers per day, they risk losing more subscribers.
