I think we win this one today. Paulsen and Franklin get it going early and Thornton has another stong game. We lead from start to finish and we see the start of the formation of a team today. This is the road trip that brings this team together and the loss on Wednesday was the one that lites a fire under this team.

I have spent the last 1 1/2 hours yelling at my television set, trying to reach Jeter across the miles, aking "why is Mauldin on the bench and Franklin in the game?" Jeter starts Mauldin and never puts him in again (two games in a row) and keeps Franklin even though Franklin has no points and no height. I can't understand it, and I wish someone would explain it to me because I am so frustrated! Does anyone have ideas on this? If we started Charlie, Sam, Paige, Avo, and Massiah, switching in Al and Marcus, it just seems like we'd win more games. I am hoping someone here has some idea why Jeter sticks with the three guards when we seem to have better options on the bench.

Can anyone post the final score. I was listening on the internet feed and WOKY cut to the weather and "america's best music" with 1:45 to go, and didn't come back for the five minutes I listened.

Oakland 76, UWM 70. Avo scored 36 with 8 three-pointers. Pretty much single-handedly kept them in the game.

Yes we lost the game- but I think everyone had to have noticed the obvious improvements (Avo's performance was unbelievable). If this team keeps progressing, I don't think an eventual winning record, and a strong showing in the Horizon tournament is impossible as it may seem now.

I agree with bigcat. Franklin is really struggling out there and can't hit any type of shot - outside, runner, inside, even free throws. I think Thornton ought to be getting more time than Franklin. Hell, he can't shoot any worse.

No, he can't shoot any worse, but he can't play defense either. Too many missed opportunities tonight. They just don't know how to win a game.

In many instances, having a big man (Mauldin) in would have helped Paulsen avoid fouls and aided our defense. I don't Mauldin to play if there is some physical reason that he can't, but I keep shaking my head in disbelief as he sits on the bench while Franklin plays more than twice as many minutes (I just looked it up). Is there something I am missing here that would explain Jeter's choice in close situations to keep playing Ricky and not Sam?

If you never got the chance to see one Von McDade play Avery Smith just gave a great impression of him.
Now, this isn't necessarily a good thing.

In checking the box score, our starters shot less than 20 percent and our off-the-bench stalwarts (Kevin, Avery, Marcus) shot over 50 percent each. Every game I watch the starting line up for a clue that Jeter has admitted to himself that we need to use the height we've got. Starters: Mauldin, Massiah, Paulsen, Smith, Swiggett. Does anyone out there think this will ever happen?
