Ok lets clear the air, we had a good team last year, but they were by no means great, come on we had high expectations for a team that brought every one back from the best season in school history... had we had bruce pearl and our player of the year back that may have been a final four team, but we didnt, we won the HL, did not have a player of the year, and thrived off of senior leadership, and managed to fullfill expectations barely...

you saw the great team... and news flash last year was the first year in three we did not have a college all american... living off the rep of the lst season does not count as great!!!!!!!!!!!

talk about high expectations... remember, you are UW-M of the Horizon league, with a short history in D1 athletics, and even less in the success of your basketball program. You should be proud and satisfied with the run you enjoyed over the past few years. It would be unreasonable to expect similar success going into the future year in and year out - that is the nature of mid-major basketball. This will be a down year compared to your expectations, but the cycle of the better teams in the Horizon is to have a successfull team every several years. I'm sure you will be back sometime in the near future, but probably not this year.
The all american comment is funny - do you really think so highly of yourself to expect all americans every year?? funny.

I know for a fact that I never once thought about UWM going to the final four last year. I thought if we won a first round game in the NCAA's that our season would have been a success, but to suggest that we were a final four caliber team, I think that's a giant stretch. |

I also wanted UWM to go to the second round--although I'm pretty sure if we didn't play Florida we would have had a legit shot at a sweet 16 appearance.
UWM has never been anywhere near the final four, though, and even with BP and Ed McCants Florida would have mopped the floor with us.
This will be a rebuilding year--we're not going to reload. If we have a winning record, and place at least 5th in the HL then I'm happy.
