I just picked up the Sporting News and CBSsportsline College preview issues. The CBSsportsline can pretty much be thrown in the garbage because they don't pick a winner and it indicates AJ Wilson has a chance at starting for UWM. The Sporting News article was written by Rob Demovsky (guess what team he picks to finish first?), so at least the writer is familiar with the Horizon League. Demovsky picks UWM to finish 6th and writes about how Jeter has recruited well and has depth to play an up-tempo style. Demovsky's starting 5: 1. Swiggett 2. Franklin 3. Gentry 4. Paulsen 5. Maudin He also picks Paige Paulsen as the Newcomer of the Year. Kingsbury's suggestion: Plunk down the $22 bucks and buy the Blue Ribbon Yearbook ( www.blueribbonyearbook.com/ ). It is defiantly the bible of preview issues, well worth the money. Once I receive mine in the mail, I'll put a synopsis of what it says on the board.

I can't believe Demovsky would pick UWGB. I thought he was a pretty objective guy. Maybe he truly believes UWGB can contend. I don't think they can because I'm not impressed with pmck as a bench coach although they do have some talented players..

Yeah, that is a possible starting 5, but I still don't think Gentry (A true freshman) is going to start this year. He'll have a bit of development to do. But really, who the hell knows the starting five at this point. It could be so many different combos and it could be that it changes depending on the matchup. That to me is what makes this year soo exciting.
I really think that 6th is too low for this team. I mean come on! I think UWM will finish in the top 3. Sure we lost a lot of players, but we added equal or better talent for this year...once the season play starts this team will be playing together and seasoned, they will win more than the lose. But that' good, I hope the other teams overlook UWM so that we can come in and shock them.
This month can't go fast enough!

Just my opinion, but with the parity in the HL this year, home court advantages, etc. I think a 10-6 conference record might be good enough for first place.
You have to figure that a team like Detroit has an automatic six or seven wins just from their home court advantage at Calihan. Butler is very tough at home, WSU plays well at home, and even YSU has a couple of good seniors and better coaching.
Maybe CSU will go 4-12, but I wouldn't count on it. Road wins are going to be mighty hard to come by this year. If you thought tiebreakers were important last year (making the difference between a first round bye and a first round road game) wait until this year. I could see the top six teams separated by one or two wins.

I doubt it. If Loyola does it the way they can, they'll be miles ahead of the pack. Of course, we barely scratched out the regular season title, so who knows.
