I honestly think overall the league doesnt have a marquee team this year ...obviously we are not going to be nearly as good, and I think Butler wont be as good this year..they lost alot of sr leadership...also I think that Loyola will not just roll over the league... in my estimate the league is deeper but lacks a powerhouse that the last two years possessed with us at the top and even when UIC went to the tourney three years ago that was a damn good team, and the year before that us and BU went to the dance...I think if Loyola gets the bid they are a 14 seed at best and if someone else makes it from the league I would say a 15 seed...however, if we overachieve and have 20 wins and get the bid look for a 13 or 12 based on past reputation alone...there is no way we get an 11 last year without beating two teams in the dance the year before...

ok loyola.... is the game against Michigan guaranteed, is that if you make it further into the tornament? Yes it is. Also the John Thompson Classic is not really a tournament. All four teams here are playing each other.

UWM's never gotten lower than a 12 seed. 12 would be my guess. Of course that would require that they win the HL tourney. And there's no way in hell that happens this year.

I wouldn't be terribly shocked if 2 HL teams go dancing this year. I could see at least one team maintaining a Top 30 RPI, and if they lost in the HL tourney, they'd likely be in. Before last year they'd have been considered a lock with an RPI that high, but with the Missouri St and Hofstra snubs last year, even Top 30 isn't a lock anymore. Unless you play in a Bc$ conference, of course. It will all come down to, IMO, the top teams in the league knocking of some of their Top 25 & Top 50 RPI opponents during the non-conf schedule. Otherwise they'll have nothing to hang their hats on (in the eyes of the committee) if they lose in the HL tourney as the #1 seed. And if the #1 HL team is the only bid, there's no way they're any lower than a 13 seed. Same for any possible HL at-large team. The 14-16 seeds are never at-large teams, they are generally the auto qualifiers from the 19 to 31 rated conferences... www.kenpom.com/confrank.php?y=2006The only way the HL gets worse than that is if something happens similar to 2002. That year UIC got a 15 seed when they won the HL tourney as the league's 6th place team. For comparisons sake, when they won the HL tourney again in 2004 over UWM, they got a 13 seed as the 2nd place team.
