Young transfers to school closer to home. Didn't seem like he ever really fit in here. Best of luck to him in the future.

SATURDAY, Aug. 26, 2006, 12:37 p.m. By Bobbi Roquemore Young granted release by UWM UW-Milwaukee granted men's basketball senior guard Tyrone Young a release from his scholarship, Panthers coach Rob Jeter announced Saturday. Young played one season (2005-'06) with the Panthers and appeared in 25 games off the bench, averaging 4.8 minutes and 2.0 points per outing. He scored a season-high 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor in the 78-74 victory at Montana on Dec. 30. Young's desire to closer to his hometown of Kansas City., Mo., played a major role in his decision to leave UWM, Jeter said. He is expected to enroll at Central Missouri State, a Division II school in Warrensburg, Mo., approximately 50 miles southeast of Kansas City. "I'm proud of Tyrone. He worked hard, and he really improved as a person and a player," Jeter said. "It's just something for him that he really wanted to be closer to family. He worked hard and decided near the end here that he really wanted to be back closer to home." www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=2&date=8/26/2006&id=10528its unfortunate that things didn't work out here for him. i hope he's able to make the best of his last year. good luck tyrone.

In foresight, does this open up another scholarship? We could really use another big man.

Good luck to Tyrone. Got caught in a numbers game and wouldn't have seen much time this year.
This should also clarify Nick Hansen's scholarship status, I would think.

Wish him nothing but luck. He did get caught in a numbers game, but hopefully he will find himself in a better situation elsewhere because he never seemed to be comfortable here.
I would guess this goes to Hansen or maybe Torre Johnson if he is going to be on scholarship this year. I honestly have lost track of who is on scholarship for this year and who is not after what I would consider to be a busy summer.

Sorry, but I don't know if Hasen is good enough to get a scholarship. I would save it to recruit someone.

I doubt there is much out there to get anymore this year and Hansen is going to be a senior so the scholarship will be available for 07-08. If there really is someone out there that can help this team for the next 2-4 years sure lets get them if we can, otherwise give it to Hansen rather than let it waste for a year. Nothing wrong with rewarding a guy.

If there's a scholarship available Nick Hansen easily deserves it, and yes he is good enough. I expect him to give us quality, valuable minutes this year.

I honestly have lost track of who is on scholarship for this year and who is not after what I would consider to be a busy summer. Torre would be getting Wimmer's schollie. we shouldn't have to wait too long to find out what they'll be doing w/ Young's schollie.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we could find someone for this year to give Young's Schollie to, we would not be able to bring in Hill, Roberts and Johnson, unless that person is a senior. In that case, he would then have to sit a year anyway, so that won't happen. I think the only option is to give it to Hansen.
Here is a break down of schollies. If it's correct, you'll notice we're all full in '07. We only have one spot left for '06.
2006 Massiah Paulsen Hanson Anderson Franklin Gentry Swigget Skinner Smith Thorton Johnson Mauldin
2007 Paulsen Hanson Anderson Franklin Gentry Swigget Skinner Smith Thorton Johnson Mauldin Roberts Hill

I understand that this is all confusing right now, but I truly believe that things will really sift themselves out over the next few days in terms of who will be a Panther this year and next and who won't.
