I'm not going to get this exactly right, but I was talking about this with a coach yesterday, and I believe that as of September (after classes start) practice can begin. It will be small group skill development for the most part. I was surprised to hear that they could actually do a two hour full team practice each week if they chose to instead of the smaller group practices. I didn't realize that. But I don't think that's how they expect to spend the time. It wouldn't make much sense this early.

Page 8C of the Urinal Sentinel (sports section) has an article that talks about the UWM pre-season training, which includes running St. Mary's hill. I guess it kicked Mauldin's ass, he colapsed. what a great way to whip these kids into shapefor the long season . So the team is getting ready!

As long as Mauldin's knee holds up, I'm happy.

i believe they can only do individual drills & conditioning up until Oct. 14th. not real surprised Mauldin's not in bball condition yet given the problems he had.

Ryan Thornton hurt his ankle the other day. He's walking around in a boot. Unless something drastically changes, he's still OK for the season starts.

I spoke with Mauldin the other day about his conditioning. He told me that the hill was pretty brutal, and that he dropped the last two laps on the first day. The second day they ran 12 rotations and he ran all 12 rotations and kept pace with the rest of the team. He did not collapse! He did say that he knows he has some work to do as far as conditioning goes. The time he has spent up to this point he has been working on developing his court skills. He said that the conditioning will come a lot easier than the court skills that all it took was working thru the pain and gutting it out, but the court skills take a lot of practice time and that was what he felt it was most important for him to be spending his time on up to this point. If you want reliable info go to the source and don't give hearsay and rumor more credibility than for what it is, hearsay and rumor.
