Doherty was responsible for recruiting Rashad McCants, Raymond Felton, and Sean May to Carolina. I know Carolina has the "name" recognition, but he was the one that got them to Chapel Hill. Being able to coach is a different story.

Wasn't Jeter responsible for Dwyane Wade?

That's a matter of a great deal of opinion and conjecture, but RJ appears to have been mainly responsible for the initial recruitment efforts. As for who actually landed him for Marquette, Bill Russell has claimed responsibility for that. Yes, that Bill Russell.

So with the expected signing of AJ Wilson and the other guy who may be DeJuan Flowers...how many players does that give us for 2006-07? Based off of raar's post of the roster which was:
Kevin Massiah G/F 6-5 215 Sr. Avery Smith G 6-3 175 Jr. Zach Holt G 5-6 160 Fr. Allan Hanson G 6-0 170 Jr. Myles McKay G 6-3 180 So. Kaylan Anderson G 6-5 195 Fr. Paige Paulsen F 6-7 220 Jr. Nick Hansen G 6-5 200 Sr. Michael Bendall F 6-7 210 Jr. Tyrone Young G 6-4 200 Sr. Sam Mauldin F/C 6-9 Jr. Ricky Franklin G 6-1 200 Fr Roman Gentry G/F 6-5 Fr. Marcus Skinner F 6-6 Jr. Jason Deutchman F/G 6-6 Fr. Jason Averkamp C/F 6-8 Fr. Ryan Thorton F 6-7 Fr. Charles Swiggett G 6-1 Fr
that was 18 players....add 2 more (AJ Wilson and DeJuan Flowers?) and doesn't that make 20, or am I missing something??

Does a redshirt count as a roster spot? At least one will red shirt. Is it possible were going to cut somebody?

AJ Wilson and DeJuan Flowers? That is being jumping the gun, right? Are they both for 2006-2007?
It will be interesting to see who is redshirted. Guess it depends on who shows the most development at this point and who will really be getting playing time. I mean if a guy is on the team and never plays because there is a returning guy that will be getting more minutes then it makes sense to save the guy for next year and have him develop in practices while maintaining his eligibility. The worse thing is a guy wasting a year of eligibility on the bench because he needs to develop and he is too deep on the depth chart.
Are there cuts? like would holt or mckay be cut? you can't carry 20 active players, seems costly in travel costs alone.

Right...we don't really know about Wilson or Flowers for sure yet...but just to speculate, it could cause for some very interesting player battles....especially at the guard spots

A redshirt on scholarship counts against the limit. In fact, I belive one hasn't officially redshirted until after the season ends and the appropriate application is made.
It will be interesting to see how the roster shakes out. The good news is that Rob is attracting a lot of talent.

Interesting questions. For one, there will be no cuts. Take these two players for example: Zach Holt is a practice squad player, meaning that he won't see action in any games. I'm quite sure that he doesn't count against a roster limit. Take Myles McKay for another. I believe that he could remain in the program with the same status as Zach, practice with the team but have no eligibility in games. As for the projected incoming recruits, A.J. is highly uncertain and DeJuan would be for 2007.

Is Flowers from Minnesota as well? From a google search it looks like he is from Minnesota, now playing at San Jacinto. I'm wondering if this is the same guy.
