here is how the roster is looking
Kevin Massiah G/F 6-5 215 Sr. Avery Smith G 6-3 175 Jr. Zach Holt G 5-6 160 Fr. Allan Hanson G 6-0 170 Jr. Myles McKay G 6-3 180 So. Kaylan Anderson G 6-5 195 Fr. Paige Paulsen F 6-7 220 Jr. Nick Hansen G 6-5 200 Sr. Michael Bendall F 6-7 210 Jr. Tyrone Young G 6-4 200 Sr. Sam Mauldin F/C 6-9 Jr. Ricky Franklin G 6-1 200 Fr Roman Gentry G/F 6-5 Fr. Marcus Skinner F 6-6 Jr. Jason Deutchman F/G 6-6 Fr. Jason Averkamp C/F 6-8 Fr. Ryan Thorton F 6-7 Fr. Charles Swiggett G 6-1 Fr.
That is a lot of players. How many can they keep? I suppose a couple may be redshirted?
Who have I missed? Can anyone fill in the gaps. like weight, positions, etc.

18 players is a LOT. You would expect at least 3 or 4 players to redshirt.
With all these new guys, I can't believe that players like myles mckay and michael bendall stand any chance of pt. Even Nick Hansen will struggle if Thornton is as good as advertised.

Is there an NCAA roster limit? Is there a limit on redshirts?

I thought 15 was the limit if 15 was the limit, we would've been in trouble last year as we had 16 eligible players. McKay and Holt need to leave. did Hoelzel leave? the last i heard was he was still wavering on his options but that was 2 months ago.

Yeah, that Holt guy is a hobbit. At that size he'd have to have amazing skills to play DI ball. I haven't heard anything about him, so.....

From the looks of things the last few years, it appears that a team can have 18 active players, as long as at least five of them are walk-ons. As far as I can tell, the current walk-ons would be Averkamp, Bendall, Holt, McKay and Hansen. Not sure of Deutchman's status.

So far we are missing Mauldin, Deutchman, and Averkamp right?

I am very excited to see Gentry in action...he sounds like he's gonna be a handful for the rest of the horizon league...
• Career Overview
Will be on the roster as a true freshman in 2006-07 ... considered one of the top players in the state of Iowa.
• Sioux City East High School
Named the 2006 Iowa 4A Player of the Year, beating out Wisconsin recruit Jason Bohannon ... earned First Team All-State honors from both the Des Moines Register and the Iowa Newspaper Association following both his junior and senior seasons ... third all-time leading scorer in the history of all Sioux City high schools ... led East to the state semifinals this past season, averaging 20.6 points and 11.3 rebounds per game ... leading scorer and rebounder in the Iowa 4A State Tournament ... averaged 19 points and 10.8 rebounds per game as a junior ... has shown the ability to both shoot from the outside and go to the basket ... made 52 three-point shots his senior year while getting to the free throw line 138 times ... played on the Iowa Basketball Coaches' Association Senior Select squad, leading the team at almost 19 points per game ... has also earned a variety of other honors, including all-city, All-Missouri River Conference, All-Northwest Iowa and All-District honors following both his junior and senior seasons.
• Rob Jeter on Roman Gentry
"There is no question Roman is a very talented player who can have a tremendous career in Milwaukee. He performed at a high level throughout high school and developed into one of the best players in the state of Iowa. He has a great shooting touch, yet can drive to the basket and play well on the interior. He is also strong and has shown a great ability to rebound the basketball. We are thrilled that Roman has chosen to continue his basketball career in Milwaukee."

I was elated to find out Roman was coming here. I had first heard about him and January and had always hoped we could somehow get him. His commitment here was a BIG deal to Iowa bball fans back home.

Having seen Roman (on tape), I can tell you that he's an extremely promising prospect. The columnist at the Sioux City newspaper was quite unhappy that Roman (and Rob) didn't end up at Iowa State.

It's cool, because when Jeter was brought in, it seemed like he and Matt Dougherty were the choices. Jeter got in recruiting-wise because he is a great recruiter in Wisconsin and Illinois...funny, because Dougherty had better national recruiting talents in some eyes(not mine.) Now, Jeter gets a huge out-of-state recruit. Big step for RJ.
