Ok so my summer job is working for a landscaping company..well today we did Darron Sutton's house and so we talked briefly about the Brewers and then about UWM buckets and I asked if he was doing UWM basketball again this year and he said yes...also he said UWM is shopping around for a new channel to broadcast games on...when UWM was on WMLW they paid their way on the air but then got to keep the money from the sponsers. But he said this year FSN and UWM are in talks about putting UWM on there and it would be broadcasted state wide. How great would that be??? Just thought Id let yah in on what I thought was exciting news

That would be great. Would be nice to get some state wide coverage. Wonder if it would be just select away games or all of them. It would also be great for the program if some possible home games that would be blacked out in the Milwaukee area would go to the rest of the state.
Nice to see a slow, steady flow of news coming out for panther hoops.

I'd like to see the Horizon League coax a T.V. deal with a national network similar to the MVC's. Several schools in the conference are household names.

What schools are household names? Before attending Milwaukee I only knew of Detroit due to some success of their basketball team and Butler because I got crap in the mail about going to school there.
I think a local contract (statewide) works very well for the program and the current internet feed, which if improved over this past year, works well right now for the conference.
On a side note, I really enjoy having Sutton doing the games, he is not the best choice for hoops, but the love from time to time he drops for UWM and the horizon league during brewer games more than makes up for it not to mention the overall excitement he brings to any telecast.

A network deal won't happen, but aside from those mentioned, Valparaiso is well known in the midwest and Loyola was National Champion in 1963.

Daron is great for our program. I really liked how he advertised Senior Night during the Loyola broadcast. He seems to really care about the team we have here.
FSN would be a monumental step for this program. I can imagine my little brother and his friends up in NE Wisconsin becoming Panther fans because we'd finally be on TV more than three times a year statewide. More viewers = more fans.

Sounds like the statewide thing on fsn would only be for maybe 4 games which is very unfortunate...I dont know at this point if it would be 4 statewide games and a few more broadcasts in SE Wisconsin...but I do think we will be on the tv less next year...I doubt we get the lone ESPN game the conference has, and I doubt that our BB game will be nationally televised...so Ill go out on a limb and say that the games we have in the regular season on FSN and if we get far enough in the post season will be the only games...we have been fortunate to play 5-6 games the last two years on national television...If thought about you can appreciate it because Wisconsin probably didnt have many more, the nice thing about Wisconsin's tv deal is that it is broadcasted locally but then people in other regions can pick it up with full court

Hopefully we will still be able to watch away games over the internet through the Horizon League website.

FYI, Milwaukee has played 10 nationally televised games over the last two years — five NCAA Tournament games, two Horizon League championship games, two Bracket Buster games and the UIC game at the Cell in 2005.

Hopefully we will still be able to watch away games over the internet through the Horizon League website. I think the Horizon signed a deal w/CSTV to do the web thing for the next couple of years if I'm not mistaken.

Im sure CBS will love the ratings if the horizon league is broadcast on CBS...dude we get one game a year on ESPN...do u really think CBS is going to pick it up...no one outside of the horizon will care....just like I dont care about the MCC or other mid major conferences....but get Indiana or Duke or UConn on tv and casual fans watch because its the best of the best...Id love to see it happen but it wont happen anytime soon....btw fantasy land seems like fun Jimmy whats there to do there?
