For a long time I've been surprised why Bobby Gonzalez didn't get a "bigger" job. Looks like it's finally happened. Good for him. He's an excellent coach and from all accounts, a very good person. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2399474

Uhhhh, not from ALL accounts. Certain members of BP's staff here had beef with him.

Check out the J-S account of our game there around Christmas of 2004. It appears Bobby was quite unhappy with the Horizon League officials (aren't we all?). This is no surprise: Manhattan's facilities (which aren't in Manhattan) are very poor. BTW, have I mentioned that Jim Larranaga is among my favorite coaches? "Asked by Seth Davis about Calhoun's unhappiness with playing a 'road game' in the regional final, Larranaga responded, 'The problem is that Big East teams are unfamiliar with playing road games, period.'

I guess the coach at George Mason turned them down - apparently they got permission to talk to him.
