Ok Panther fans....I am having a discussion with a friend of mine about the OK win and how the team played...do you think the Panthers dominated that game against the Sooners, or was it the Ft count that lead to the Panther win?? My friend feels he knows all about sports and says that the Panthers won cause the refs called a bad game cause UWM got a TON more FTs.....I say that you lead the whole game for 40 min, thats dominating a team!!! What do you of you think, and I will pass this on to him....Thanx all!

They didn't dominate the game, but from about 15-minute mark in the 2nd half on the game was never really in doubt. Was it a blowout? No. Was it close? Not really.

Keep in mind this was the Sooners and not a school like Illinois County College...I am sorry, when you lead the whole game, you dominate, espicially against a Big 12 team....thats just my opinion

I think we dominated. The game was only in doubt for about two minutes in the second half when it was tied. Yes we got a lot more FT's. The Swing is designed to that and it was obvious from the get go that OU couldn't handle the swing. They looked lost and confused out there.

If I remember correctly, OU never led! And it was only tied a few times.
I agree with 97 in that it wasn't a blow-out, but it wasn't a nail-biter either. I think UWM dominated.
As for your buddy using FT's as an argument...I echo what milwsport said about the swing offense being designed to get guys to the foul line.
Just because UWM was able to do that more effectively than OU, doesn't mean the refs were playing favorites. I remember being upset with many calls against UWM too.

I didn't think we dominated either, but I thought we played very well and a lot better than Oklahoma.

They only reason I could use to say the Panthers Dominated would be the fact that we never trailed/lost the lead.
Yes they tied, but we were never behind.
Overall game play no.

Domination has nothing to do w/ holding the lead the entire game. It's blowing the other guys out. Holding a slim lead for the entire game just means you had a slim lead for the entire game.
Dominate? No.
Play very well, yes.
Florida, on the other hand dominated us.

Dominated - no Won merely because of free throw difference - no
It still makes me laugh when I see a comment like that, as if a game is only called fairly if both teams shoot the same number of free throws. Nevermind that the team that's behind often fouls on purpose at the end of the game, to stop the clock, plus any number of other valid reasons for there to be a difference in free throws attempted.
UWM outplayed OU, period.

Just tell your friend that it doesn't matter the only thing that matters is the score at the end of the game, for an example see UCLA vs. Gonzaga.

Keep in mind, this friend of mine, said that no mid major would ever make it to the Final Four.....

And what is he saying now?
I mentioned to a friend of mine how great it is to be Panther fan. If you are a Dukie and they only make the sweet 16 or elite 8 you're disappointed. If you love the Panthers getting the Big Dance is a good season, winning a game in it is a better season, making the Sweet 16 is an excellent season. Anything beyond that is ecstacy.
Given fan expectations and program resources, it's much easier for a team like UWM to achieve its potential than it is for a Duke to live up to its hype.

Keep in mind, this friend of mine, said that no mid major would ever make it to the Final Four..... I'm surprised your friend has the ability to speak to say these things to you, what with that fat BCS conference c0ck that's apparently stuffed into his mouth and all. And no mid-major would "ever" make it to the Final Four? I believe HALF the Final Four in 1979 were mids, as well as MANY times prior to that. Seriously, if he really did make that comment to you, after what GMU's done you should be giving him crap until it's coming out his eye sockets. Just for that ONE comment alone. And did Milwaukee dominate Oklahoma? Perhaps at times (like after OU tied it up for the final time in the 2nd half and UWM responded by opening up a 14 point lead in a matter of minutes). But did Milwaukee COMPLETELY OUTPLAY OU? YES, from beginning to end? Definately!
