Jeter Staying Put As Head Basketball Coach In Milwaukee Looking forward to second season at UWM
March 21, 2006
MILWAUKEE - Rob Jeter has announced he will remain the head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Jeter had interviewed for the vacant Iowa State head coaching position on Monday.
"Over the last couple of days, I've really been able to reaffirm the fact that I am with working great people and under great leadership here in Milwaukee," Jeter said. "With Athletic Director Bud Haidet and Chancellor Carlos Santiago, I know our program and our University is in good hands. I was not looking for a job, but I am flattered by the interest a Big 12 program like Iowa State showed in me. Yet, it also helped me to realize just how happy I am in Milwaukee. There is no question a commitment exists here to continue to compete at a high level, and I am excited to be a part of it."
Jeter just completed his first season with the Panthers, leading Milwaukee to a 22-9 record and a win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
