It seems like the fans on their site have interest in a few other candidates as well, which I take as a good sign. Last year with Tennessee the talk in those few days leading up to his hire the talk was about Bruce and Bruce alone. I know what the fans talk about and who the AD actually interviews are 2 different things, but I'll take any positive karma we can get at this point

In the few messages that I read on the ISU site, there was no mention of RJ.

From the Cyclone Fanatic Website
Jeremy CycloneFanatic.com
Rob Jeter has been contacted and has shown interest in the opening. UW-M's athletic director gave Iowa State permission this morning to make official contact with Jeter. Jamie Pollard will be interviewing Jeter within the next day or two, scheduling permitted.
There is a possibility that Jeter will be one of the only individuals interviewed for the position if Pollard already has his mind set on him. Sources stated that there is no point in dragging the search on for a while if we already have the guy we want. Individuals within the athletic department have expressed great confidence in Rob Jeter and his abilities as a leader for the ISU program, both on and off the court.
It sounds like if Jeter likes the position, Pollard may even extend an offer yet this week. Sources have maintained that Pollard did not come to Iowa State with the intent on hiring Jeter, it's just working out that way. We are in good hands with Jamie Pollard and nobody should read too much into the fact that he is bringing in somebody he already knows. The fact is that Rob Jeter has all of the characteristics to make it in Ames and to take Iowa State to the next level. Will he succeed in doing that, only time will tell.
Sources also suggested that there wasn't a need to interview more than a couple candidates, at the most. Jamie Pollard has been working on a list for some time now in case the situation arose where we were looking for a new coach. He had narrowed the list down to a half-dozen by late last week and has given all his attention on finding a replacement that has all the qualities he deems necessary in the Big XII. I can only stress that although Jeter is young and inexperienced, he shows exactly the traits that Pollard and Thompson are searching for. Jeter has no baggage at this point and has all of the same coaching characteristics that lead to long-term success.
Regarding Mark Turgeon, sources inside the AD suggested that Turgeon had not shown much interest in the ISU opening when some of his colleagues suggested it to him. Turgeon is not out of the equation, but all indications are that Jeter will be the next ISU Men's Basketball coach if he so chooses. Turgeon, I'm told, isn't regarded as favorably as Jeter just because of the way the athletic department wants to go as far as coaching style. There is no question that Turgeon will be a great coach somewhere, the question is, will it be in the Big XII if it's not at Kansas? Signs point to no.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this guy is saying that Jeter is interested, that their Athletic Department staff is high on him and interested in him
Let's hope he's wrong on all counts.
