Just ripped some UWM fans for their "message board mentality", for getting upset at the thought of Rob leaving. He said that those who were upset should have waited to criticize him after he announced he left, and that they are assholes.

He has a point. There should be no need for anyone to post apologies.

Yes he does, a very valid point.
I think a few more people have to go to that apology thread and add their names to it.

I believe people overreacted because of our experience last year with Pearl having a nice run and then leaving for Tenn. People had a feeling of deja vu .It seems to me to be two different situations- Rob is just starting his head coaching career and BP had put in quite a few years. I also doubt that he called us "assholes". I am excited Rob has chosen to stay and build his own legacy at UWM- When is the banquet?

Uhhhh...he did He said that those b****ing needed to get a 12 pack of Milwaukee's Best...and then called them assholes. While I do not think anything I said was mean or nasty, for Coach Jeter, I apologize and am glad you are staying.

I think Bill might need to check his attitude at the door. If he does not understand the frustration of the fans on this one then he needs to take off his blinders and see what would have happened to the program is Jeter would have left.

If Bill is married, I would like him to not react as his wife considers "moving up" to a better man. One with a higher income and more "upside", that gives her the chance to compete with her friends more effectively.
He should sit quietly and NOT react until she makes an announcement.
After all, it's just business. No need for a "message board mentality", is there? Don't be an "a**hole", Bill.
You can't blame her for bettering herself, can you Bill?

How does that even relate to the topic of Rob Jeter taking a job elsewhere? That's all it is: A job. As fans we have team loyalty. We can't put our loyalty on the coaching staff when for them this is first and foremost only a job... (As a side note: If a man were to react to his wife divorcing him in the same way that some of you did to Jeter's possible resignation, there's not a shot in hell that that wife would reconsider staying. Actually, her reason for leaving would be plain as day for all to see.)

Speaking strictly for myself, all i can say is that I have made a serious financial and emotional investment in the Milwaukee Panthers. The relationship is very real and important to some of us. Some of us actually cry when we win Conference Tournaments, and feel real pain when the team comes up short on the court. Some of us have deep connections to the school and the team, and anything that hurts the team, impacts us as well. Some fans may not feel that way. Most of us who post regularly on this forum feel that connection at an emotional level. If you don't, that's your business, and you are certainly entitled to that position. but that does not entitle you to belittle those of us who bleed black and gold. The funny thing is, if this were the Packers fan board, no one would wonder why we feel that way.

But you just cannot expect coaches to have the same amount of loyalty. It's a job for them. They get paid. That's how it works.

I wouldn't take what Bill Johnson said too seriously. Its radio - those morons are just trying to fill air time.
If Jeter left he'd be on the air blasting him for leaving.

My point wasn't related in any way to Rob Jeter specifically. It was directed at the comments made by Bill Johnson. It is obvious he understand little or nothing about the deep feelings some fans have, and how we live and die with the Panthers.
One year removed from losing the man seen as responsible for the highest success, we are a hair from losing another coach, and he expects us all to sit with our hands folded quitely while we wait for Rob to make his decision.
Well good for Bill if he can do that. That just tells me that the Panthers are just a JOB for him, too. It's his right to feel that way, but keep your mouth shut about it and don't rip people for whom this is not just a job, or just a team. He was out of line, period.

The funny thing is, Bill Johnson is overreacting to fans overreacting.
Ummm....does that make him one too? 12 pack of Milwaukees Best should do the trick Bill.

I think that Bill Johnson maybe should not have said a**holes. But he's right. Everyone that blindly believed that Rob Jeter would just up and leave was wrong. You criticized him before he even made a decision. The truth is that no one on this board new his intentions until the announcement was made that he would stay. If you were Rob Jeter and read this board and saw all the fans backing out on him so quickly, why would you want to stay here? Please support the coach until there is a concrete reason not too, not just speculation. It hurts the program if you jump to conclusions, what I would call as Bill Johnson does "the message board mentality." Everybody just relax. We should be happy right now. I understand why people could see how Jeter would leave, but the fact is he didn't. Everyone that criticized him jumped the gun.
I'm also entirely sick of people bring family into all of these discusssions. A mid-major coach leaving for a larger program does not warrant spitting on his children. Or calling people that were quick to react assholes, doesn't mean his wife should divorce him. Grow up. This is a message board for Panther athletics; let's keep it that way. If it continues I hope people start abandoning this board because it is pathetic. I know for one I will.
