Since we are no longer a Cinderella, I have to say that title belongs to Northwestern State who just came away with a crazy impressive victory against Iowa.
Down two points with 13 seconds left, they grabbed the rebound off a missed free throw, carried down court and rather than go for the tie, shot a three pointer. Missed that shot and got the rebound in the corner pocket to nail a sick three with .5 seconds left. This is what March is all about and how a Cinderella comes through. Big 10 is taking some hits hard this year.
And now UWM is the sole Wisconsin team in the dance. Did ANYONE ever think that UWM would see this day? Not me.

The Northwest State v Iowa game was nuts. Iowa blew a 15 point second half lead. It just goes to show you that anything can happen during March Madness.
Score another one for the poor over rated mid majors who bullied their way into the BCS er I mean NCAA tournament.

Is kinda making Billy Packard look dumb when he said mid majors should not have gotten as many bids....wins-UWM,Witchta st, Northwest ST..just to name a few....seems to me that the mid majors are catching up

The Air Force v Illinois game last night was tight too and so was Ohio State vs Davidson today.

Bucknell over Arkansas, Montana beating another mid-major, yadda, yadda, yadda.
But I guarantee you that next year the commentators will make the same absurd comments about how no mid-major is better than the 6th team in the ACC or the 7th team in the Big East.
Face the facts, and just keep kicking tail.

What do you mean you are not a cinderella?
If you are a mid-major, lower than 10 seed, you are considered a cinderella if you get past the second round. Sure the first round win was not that supprising, but if you get past Florida, you are definitely a Cinderella!
Are you ashamed of that label?

I think NW st is looked at as a cinderella unlike us because it was a 14 over a 3 and they haven't done it before.

Plus Iowa just won the Big 10 conference tourney and was a 3 seed w/tons of so called momentum, & that game was all but over halfway through the second half.

I dont consider UWM a cinderella...not a chance in hell. And especially not when Northwestern State - as a 14 seed just dismantled a very powerful Iowa team to move on. They are now the new Cinderella. Everyone knows, even the media, how good UWM is and how much seniority they have. The title of Cinderella moves onward...

These are not my qualifications but rather a sports writer from CNNSI.com. However, I think they are valid, and I really agree with his thoughts. The new Cinderella(s) follow this test;
1. First and foremost, a Cinderella should be able to pass the basic fan litmus test, which is not having the slightest idea where the school is located.
2. A team cannot be considered a Cinderella if it's reached the Elite Eight (No. 12 Kent State, No. 14 Xavier) or Sweet 16 (No. 5 Nevada, No. 11 Wisconsin-Milwaukee) within the past few years.
3. A team cannot be considered a Cinderella if it comes from a conference that's produced a recent Final Four team (No. 11 San Diego State and No. 13 Air Force of the Mountain West, Utah's conference).
4. A team cannot be considered a Cinderella if it was seeded in the upper half of the bracket just last year (No. 13 Pacific).
5. Finally, it goes without saying that no team from the Missouri Valley (No. 7 Wichita State, No. 10 Northern Iowa, No. 11 Southern Illinois and No. 13 Bradley) can be considered a Cinderella, seeing as the league was rated higher than the Pac-10 this season. (This, of course, does not apply to Nantz and Packer, who apparently consider anyone outside of the big-six to be in Division III).

Rock choke Jayhawks lost again. One and done two years in a row. Bad year for the mighty big 12er.
