"Oklahoma coach Kelvin Sampson has been mentioned as a possible successor to Rob Evans at Arizona State, but Sampson's chances at the job have been damaged, if not eliminated, by recruiting violations acknowledged by the Sooners in a report to the NCAA. Sampson has been telling his colleagues that he is ready to move on after 12 seasons at Oklahoma, according to coaches and athletic officials at several schools." -- Arizona Republic
I hope that the possibility of this season being Sampson's last season at OU doesn't lead to an inspired performance by his players.

There's no chance of this happening. ASU isn't half the program OU is. OU has a top 5 class coming in and Kelvin's son is a player here.

This rumor is the dumbest coaching move rumor EVER!!! OU has been a top 10 program this decade and a top 15-20 program the last 25 years. In the last 25 years we have 20 NCAA's and 5 NIT's, so we have not missed playing in post season in 25 years, longest streak in the nation. Kelvin has been to 11 NCAA's in his 12 years, the only year we missed it by one game and we had multiple injuries and our starting center was booted from the team at the end of the year. Like zepp said we have a consensus top 5 national recruiting class coming in next year, it is just laughable that the freaking Arizona Republic would report such a stupid rumor. Kelvin would maybe consider leaving for Arizona because he is friends with the AD there, but Arizona State is just hilarious!

And besides who is there right mind would want to go and coach a bottom feeder in the overrated PAC 10, let alone leave a very good conference in the Big 12. Crazier things have happened though, just like everyone said why would Pearl go to Tenn where coaches go to die. Yeah, he died alright and went straight to heaven.

I'm sure they've heard the rumors and they may want to do everything they can to keep him there. I hope that the possibility of this season being Sampson's last season at OU doesn't lead to an inspired performance by his players

I wasn't necessarily believing the rumor that he'd go to ASU, but if he's been hinting at moving on...that could also mean retirement, the Indiana job, etc...
I was just hoping his players didn't suddenly find some inspiration from this.

I would be shocked if this was Sampson's last year at OU. OU has a top 5 class coming in with 2 top 10 players(Damion James and Reynolds who broke a Virginia scoring record held by JJ Redick) and 1 other top 50 player(Keith Clark from Oklahoma City) and 1 top 100 player from last year that went to Prep School for a year(Tony Crocker) then here's a project in Mayfield and OU may get a bigman also for a 5th scholarship. Then his son, Kellen, still plays here and will probably end up an assistant after he graduates. Kelvin's been at OU for 12 or 13 years now. I don't see why he would leave right now with all this great talent coming in and he has some really good talent still here.

Kelvin has already shot down the rumor and basically laughed at it.

Kelvin has already shot down the rumor and basically laughed at it. Yeah we've never heard a coach do that before, and then next thing you know they are gone.
