I've been reading some of their boards and they seem to be a great group of individuals really. Probably some of the best fans we'll encounter.
It's really interesting to me considering the fact that most fans on message boards are freaking lunatics! blahaha.

Maybe- I worked with a guy from ou- he was annoying as hell about football- Maybe they are more relaxed about hoops but don't mix it up with any roughnecks.

I went to the Bradley Center when they hosted the first weekend of the tourney back in the day. OU also had the hottest cheerleaders of the 8 teams that played. T

Believe me, foruwm, the true hoops fans on our board have trouble with the football fanatics too. It can get pretty ugly on ouinsider when the Sooners lose in basketball or play poorly. It wouldn't be so bad if most of them knew enough about the game to know the ball is round. But, for the most part, Oklahomans are some of the nicest people in the whole world.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed your visit to the OU board and hope you will feel welcome to come back no matter how things turn out on Thursday.
Have a good evening!!

I think most OU fans are so down on the team this year a little bit. Especially the football fans that really know nothing about basketball except when Tubbs was here scoring 90 a game(but giving up about 100)

Especially the football fans that really know nothing about basketball except when Tubbs was here scoring 90 a game(but giving up about 100) I've been reading up on your boards today and you can really tell which fans are genuine about basketball and which fans are mostly about football. It's almost like two different groups of fans really. That sucks because you guys do have a very good basketball team that has just been on the short end of the stick a few times this year. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to post often! P.S. you guys should post some pictures of your hot cheerleaders. As was mentioned, we like when teams we play post pics of hot gals from their U!

Wow, damasa you really nailed it! I am glad you observed that, but then again it should not be too hard to any outsider. OU really has a split fan base in basketball. We have a ton of fans because of our success in football, we have 85,000 people at every game and a huge waiting list for season tickets so we could easily expand the stadium another 10,000 or so. But what that brings is unrealistic expectations to our other programs, specifically basketball. We have a large group of fans who just complain and they never come on the board unless we lose, seriously. They NEVER come after a win, even a big win, but they are always on when we lose or even when we win close when they think we should have won big.
The thing is they call us positive people "sunshine pumpers" but we are disappointed with this season as well, but we discuss it intelligently and realistically. Our board is awesome in the off season because only the people who truly care about OU basketball are on there. We have some really intelligent and rabid basketball fans that show up in the off season and it is a great place. But it has been really annoying at times this year because we have a SR. lead team who has underachived and it turns the board into a mad house.
Anyway, thats pretty much the story on OU fans.

They do have a lot of great, passionate fans. But OU is a football school first and basketball second. I do feel like they are down on this team and the way they ended the regular season and got knocked out of the Big 12 Tourney.

And now we have a small group of fans trying o turn us into Tennessee or something. What I mean is because of Courtney Paris, the stud freshmen Center, our women's program is on fire and looks to be set to compete for national championships the next 4 years. So now we have a small group of fans bashing Kelvin and predicting the women will start outdrawing the men, etc, etc. It is amazing how many idiots have access to the internet.

I think you pretty much nailed it bill. I still read those boards but I don't think I'll post there again even though I've got a new username. Just too many idiots to deal with all the time.

Yeah, OU's fans are in a completely different league than Bama's were last year. I've never seen more undeservedly c***y fans in my life tahn the Tide supporters.

Chances are that they are people who don't understand college BB nearly as well as they do College FB. They don't understand the offenses or the defenses and what it takes to run them. I've run into people at our games who scream "Shoot" when someone has the ball beyond the arc and is closely guarded, so you aren't alone there. But hey at least they come to the games.
If you lose to us your fair weather fans will be hollowing mightly about being taken out by a school with a hyphen in its name (something that would NEVER happen in FB mind you).
They won't understand that BB is fundamentally different. You don't need to recruit 30 top players to contend for a national title. You only need four to seven, and because of that many good players would rather go to a mid-major where they have a chance to play then to a BCS school where they might ride the bench for a couple of years.

Don't know a lot about their basketball fans. We had a home and home with the Tide a couple years ago. Great fans for the most part. There's still some Tide fans that show up on the football boards all the time.

Actually you are right, most of the Kelvin bashers really don't know basketball and it is painfully obvious, but really most of those same people don't know football either. Oklahoma did not have any pro sports until we got the Hornets recently so OU football is like a pro sport to the state of Oklahoma, well at least everyone except OSU fans. Anyway, my point is I think there are alot of intelligent OU fans, basketball and football, but most of the intelligent football fans are intelligent basketball fans too, most, not all. When you have the size of fan base we have you are bound to have some idiots.
