I think the fact that we got an 11 seed can only help recruiting. In my opinion this year was the worst year we have had out of the three years we have made it to the tournament and we got the highest seed ever. People are starting to look at Milwaukee as a step below the MVC teams. Now if only the rest of the league would step it up then we would be in a much better situation

Worst year? Strongly disagree. There was an adjustment period at the start of the season. A couple of raw deal road games in the middle of the season and two losses thanks to A.T.'s late-season injury. IMO, the tournament title game was just about the most inspired performance I've ever seen by UWM. People tend at times to re-write history.

I expect to see some zone from UWM but if they better have someone face guarding Mike Neal or it will be a long day. A regular 2-3 zone or any type of zone is not going to get it done if Neal gets good looks all day. You will have to switch it up. Like I said, Nebraska and some other teams have even resorted to throwing some box and ones against Neal which is very rare at this level, so that tells you something about the kind of shooter he is. He has a sweet, quick stroke, uses screens well and does not need much room to get his shot off.

Next year, Milwaukee will reportedly have just such a shooter. This year, we lack the quick-strike perimeter game that we've had in seasons past. This is certainly an area of the sport where games can be decided quickly. We are clearly more interior-dominated than a season ago, when McCants could put three or four bombs on the board in a hurry.

Davis and AL can get it done, those two combined I think can replace McCants for a couple of games hopefully

Remember the Butler game? We let Polk get all he wanted and shut down the rest of the team. Maybe that's the way to go here too. Yes guard the guy but don't do anything special and make them try to beat us with their inside guys because O'Neal won't be enough to beat us if the swing is working well and we can hit some outsiders of our own.

Well OU is not Butler and Mike Neal is not Polk. You are welcome to let him get all he wants but then he will go for about 30 and you still have to worry about stopping/slowing down Everett, Bookout and Gray.

What UWM did to Butler in the HL Championship game will more than likely not work against OU. They are simpley too big, and there are several guys to worry about. When we played Butler is was simply Polk in the post with everyone else chucking shots from long range.

Sooner fan here. Good luck. I think it'll be a good game. We have had a disappointing year for the standards we had coming in. The seniors haven't always stepped it up. Everett has most of the time but he's still turnover prone. I think it all comes down to the Sooners defense which has lacked at times all year. And if OU wants to go inside. No offense to your big guys. But they aren't nearly as big or skilled as Bookout and Gray.

No way to we go zone its just not Jeters style. Any zone played this year was just a ploy to throw the other team off. OU's size is a major concern for us but with all the times I have seen Bookout play he is very inconsistent buut man is he a load when he is on.

Digger Phelps just picked Oklahoma to beat us, I did like him but now I think he needs to stop having his highlighter match his tie. how can u like digger phelps? i'm sure you've seen who he's projecting as upsets for the 1st round, 3 9-seeds and Seton Hall (10) beats Wichita State (7). that's it. on the plus side for espn, they just had some camera shots inside the arena we'll be playing in and in the middle of the screen was a woman w/ a UWM sweatshirt on.

The only thing inconsistent about Bookout is his shot attempts.
You will have to play some type of zone defense or use some zone principles in your man, trust me. I would be absolutely shocked if UWM did not throw some junk defenses at OU because you have to stop Neal and you also have to double down on our big men. If we had one more shooter similar to Neal (we did in Lawrence McKenzie and he transferred to Minnesota) we would be really really hard to guard, but we don't so we are stoppable but I don't think you can just get away with playing us straight up man to man.
