fan, nice choice in attire tonight. why was that security guard such an ass and not let you back in? Their job last night was horrible. I have never encountered such arrogant and stupid people. 1. Many students waited in line yesterday as early as 1:30pm. 10 minutes before the doors openned the security guards found it appropriate to have everyone back up 20 yards so they could inspect us. I realize the need to inspect, but have a gate set up beforehand. A little foresight would be appreciated. 2. After walking by the band to get my traditional Halftime drink of water, the security guard claimed that they had changed the rules tonight and that I had to go back into the stands, up and around the sections and back down the student section. Seeing as at least 9 other people used the same route on their return trip back into the stands following him telling me I couldn't, I will assume he was just being "funny" and forcing me to parade around. 3. After having our megaphone that we've used for the last 4 years confiscated at the beginning of the year, we have not brought one since. They provided the reasoning that the megaphones were against Horizon League rules. Last night Butler's fan base amplified their crowd with multiple megaphones. After bringing this up with the same people who said we couldn't use them earlier in the year, they said that there was no rule againts them and Butler actually called up Athletics before the game to check. 4. There were problems in the student section with drunken fans pushing their way to the bottom attempting to get on TV. Said fan would not move and said that we were incorrectly touching her. Security took FOREVER in removing her. Additionally, there were fans above us who thought it was cool to peg people with beads. The security guards sat on their hands and shook me off for a couple minutes. Finally they came over, realized there was a problem and 5 of them sat down their donuts to help. There were a few guards at the beginning of the year who understood that we will help them if they help us. I will miss many things about the Cell, but the moronic security guards are not one of those things. One of my happiest moments last night was hearing a couple fans remark "This is the greatest Freshman year ever!" |

The US Cell staff need to realize that signs can be used to cheer on a team and shouldnt be taken away. If you want to check them to make sure they are apporpriate thats cool. But even taking the Dance teams sign got alot of people really pissed!

Someone needs to talk to Bud, or Ronnie Jones or Jason Clark about this.
As shown by the Megaphone thing, I have a feeling that some of these "rules" are being made up as they go along. UWM is renting the place and they certainly have the right to tell the Cell to allow in signs and megaphones

Yes because it raises our RPI a bit. Plus beating two conference champs at their digs looks good on the resume for the selection committee

I hope you're sure on this because there have been signs at quite a few games. The megaphone rule was originally assured to us by Chuck and the security guards to be a Horizon League rule as well. Now it apparently was a made-up way of causing confusion and anger. |
