As the HL tournament comes to town, let's all remember to take full advantage of this opportunity. We're the host school - let's act like it.
This is a wonderful chance to be an ambassador for UWM basketball, the university and the City of Milwaukee, so let's all pretend we're volunteers for the Visitor's Bureau and leave the thousands of guests we're about to invite to town with a great impression of these institutions.
Strike up a conversation with a fan from another school. Give them a good tip on where to go for dinner, your favorite watering hole, or a good activity for the down-time from the games. Give someone good directions through downtown construction. Be the difference-maker that these people remember and talk about when they get home.
None of this will take away from your ability to cheer for the team in any way, so don't miss this opportunity to be a great host!
GO PANTHERS!

Let's all do our best to have the fans of other HL schools leaving with the the feeling of, "I hate that UWM won the title again, but I had a good time, and Milwaukee was great!"

Yeah, the fans are just supporting their team(s)...as long as my wife or I don't get disrespected, it's all good.
I agree, let's try to not have other school's discussion boards sharing stories about how UWM fans rubbed ketchup and salt on the seats, told people to "shut the f**k up" or other things we discussed about GB fans doing to UWM people.
As for the game(players/coaches), similar to how it'll be tough to root FOR one team more than another(b/c I dislike them all) it will be tough to root AGAINST one team over another.
I just hope there's some good basketball and that if there are some UWM student's there...they have some cheers/chants that are amusing...
For Kowal-sick..."No more hair gel! No more hair gel!"
Assuming the GB student section will be weak..."where's your students? where's your students?" (I think I heard that at GB.)
For Collins..."Bruce says what's up. Bruce says what's up."
Go Panthers!!!

I'd just like to say thank you to ghola. I greatly appreciate your words. I wish that all hosts could be as gracious as you are showing yourself to be.
We may not agree with the team we wish to win, but that doesn't mean we cannot be civil and gracious to each other.
Your players were at the game tonight and some were kind enough to answer some questions that I had (as they were sitting right in front of where the LU students were sitting).
Anyways, good luck tomorrow and (even though we may not agree...) Go Ramblers!!!

I just wanted to thank the majority of you all for being such gracious hosts. Naturally, there were some real goons that showed no tact or class, but on the whole, you all were kind. Thanks also to the group of guys walking south from the Cell after the game that I had the conversation with.
Good Luck tomorrow.

Some Grafton fans should be benched for bad behavior Posted: Mar. 4, 2006 Mike Nichols This Tuesday is National Sportsmanship Day.A group of particularly rabid fans in Grafton, rumor has it, plans to celebrate with catcalls, obscene gestures and a chant aimed at getting them a record deal with George Carlin. They've even, according to a police officer at a recent Grafton girls' basketball team game in Cedarburg, been practicing. www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=405261and the punchline in the article...Speaking of which, Grafton, whose season is now over, ended up being the loser in both the Whitefish Bay and Pewaukee games. But you already knew that. Let's have fun, be rowdy, and support our beloved Panthers as we give them every bit of home court advantage they deserve. Let's also remember to be good sports, win or lose.
GO PANTHERS

well, at least some opposing fans liked what they saw. happened to catch this great post from a Butler fan:
"This was my first time at US Cellular (and UWM for that matter). Plain and simple, there is not an environment like that anywhere else in the Horizon...very impressive."
I agree, it was a special environment last night, and really, all year.
