I don't need to settle down, because then you'd wonder if I had a heartbeat. I think it's OK if we take a shot at him when he takes a shot at us.
I've just got the ungodly treatment we were given up in Green Bay fresh in my head. Before you say we would do the same thing, would UWM fans spread salt and ketchup all over your seats while you were away, throwing crap at you all throughout the game, telling you to "Sit down and shut the F**K UP!" while their children are sitting next to them? Keep in mind, this isn't even their student section. These are adults in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. They're bitter.
About the school size, just thought I'd throw something else in there, doesn't really mean anything besides that they won't make as much money through tuition.

These are adults in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. They're bitter. I can speak from experience. I'm originally from Appleton and GB has a big-time inferiority complex for some reason. They look at other cities, places like Appleton and Milwaukee, as being better than them and automatically get defensive and bitter...it's weird. They've got the Packer's! Who cares if the UWGB campus is in the middle of nowhere. Who cares if downtown GB doesn't have a nightlife atmosphere. Who cares if you're too far north. Get over it!

I was at the UWGB game sitting about 6 rows back behind our bench and saw some of the events Jimmy described. He was sitting directly opposite of our bench maybe 3 rows up. I thought it was pretty uncalled for when one family encouraged their 6 or 7 year old son to take the balloons from a balloon animal and repeatedly hit Jimmy's friend in the face. Jimmy's friend must have some good patience since he let this go on for a few minutes before he snapped and popped the balloon.
Some Green Bay fans acting in this way isn't new behavior. Its not indicative of their entire fan base, but they do have some overzealous season ticket holders who I can count on to get a good chuckle out of when I attend nearly every UWGB Basketball game over break (not much else to do). I'd expect the stuff that happened to Jimmy from students (and probably would have no problem with it if he was in their student section), but when adults act like that in front of children it makes you wonder what kind of values people want instilled in their children....
Jimmy-- UWGB in my opinion is going to be the league favorite next season. If I'm a betting man I suspect GBFANJ is going to make you eat your words. Evanochko's jumper is just too good.

I know they'll be league favorite, but I don't think they can make the Sweet Sixteen IF they even win the conference tournament.
I think Loyola will win conference next year, AS THINGS STAND NOW. UWM has a few scholarships to dish out, as do other teams in the conference. But Leon Young is a GREAT player, and I believe that Carlito can contend for conference POTY as early as his junior year.

I actually had a very similar experience 2 years ago. Myself and 5 friends of mine were sitting opposite the UWM bench about 20 rows up. Several comments were made to us during the game to basically shut up and not cheer when UWM did something well. We are pretty anti-confrontational people so we actually obliged their request and didn't cheer for much of the second half. After the game was over and UWM lost, a couple of 40 somethings wanted to get into a fight with us for no apparent reason. We just walked away and ignored them.
I actually stopped being a Packer fan after the game because of the poor sportmanship of the fans. It also bothered me that the majority of the fans actually wore GB Packers apparel to the game (I don't care if they both have similiar colors, the fans should where Phoenix clothing). They also use several of the Packers cheers which I found even more annoying.
As for the demographics of the fans, I would say that 85% would qualify for AARP benefits.
No doubt GB has to be considered a top three favorite to win the league next year, however I think Milwaukee will suprise many next year with Jeter's system and his new recruits. I say it now, Jeter will be coach of the year next year.

Well, I feel like I need to apologize for my comments a few days ago. I was just a bit frustrated by the repeated anti-UWGB comments on this board and how some things I had said on this board had been taken out of context and just lost it. Also, while I do believe that UWM will not be on top of the league next season, that last comment was not justified because of that. In the end, I ended up creating more problems because of what I had said. So, I apologize for making those comments.

You say though that you were a bit frustrated by the anti-UWGB comments....this is an in-state rival's discussion board...what type of stuff do you think is discussed here? Did you expect these particular Panther fans who commit countless hours each week to reading and typing about UWM Basketball (myself included) to not voice their opinions and ultimately defend UWM? While I think most people are level-headed about UWM and the rest of the conference...we're not going to let fans from other HL teams come to this board and talk smack. I for one think GB's got great upside. Eventhough Kowalcyzk has under-achieved thus far...next year things could heat up even more between the UWM/UWGB rivalry b/c of the young talent up there.

Re: Who can knock off UWM?? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for knocking off UWM, I know about a million fans that could knock off their fans in an IQ test. My favorite UWM fan moment of the season came in their loss at home to UIC. The big bald dude Zoric airballed a free throw for the Flames early in the 2nd half and the next 5 or 6 possessions, the crowd chanted "airball, airball" every time Stefanov touched the ball. Absolutely hilarious. Great court awareness. It was a moment I'll never forget.
This was found on the Futler boards, pretty interesting stuff. It seems when you are on top everyone likes to take their shots. I guess blowing your final game and losing the Tournament really hurts. Oh well, I know someone that will enjoy hosting for the third year in a row. And correct me if I am wrong, since I was mildly intoxicated for the UIC game, but isn't this the game where about 3 or 4 different players all airballed shots in the first half. Hmmmm, I guess there must have been a bad feed that night through the horizon league online site. And atleast we can still say we are saving the court rushing for an appropriate time, not when you beat an unranked conference opponent at your place when you are still in second place in conference AND its still the middle of the season.

Futler is a private school, they have to think they're smarter than anyone else or else they can't justify that high tuition.
As for GB, the behavior of those fans doesn't surprise me. At a class reunion, a HS friend of mine told me he moved there and hates it. He said that on his block there's two types of people, those who are native to GB and those who aren't. Those who are will have BBQ's and only invite other natives. He told me he's lived there for 15 years and they still treat him and his wife and kids like "we're some sort of invaders or something."
He said they look down their noses at the others.
