Absolutley no way no how does Rob get COY...He does not even deserve to be mentioned in the balloting...He has done a piss poor job of reading what his players needs are and what their strengths and weaknesses are...He is still having trouble 26 games into the year trying to get a successful rotation going
He has dropped to many games that should not be dropped. With the players we have on the team there is no way he should win it unless we went 15-1 or 16-0 in conference...He just flat out layed an egg with this system...Its a good system but NOT with these players...You have to have the right personal to run it...I am sick to my stomach right now

Actually it seemed to me that we got away from that system tonight. We shot 29% from beyond the arc and we shot a helluva lot of 3's that shouldn't have been launched.

When a team is determined to pack it in down low, shooting 3's when they they're open is exactly what you do. Thank god Rob has told them not to shoot so now they wait until the defense has recovered and is on them when they finally shoot after pissing away the entire shot clock passing the ball around the arc without a single screen set.

I realize that many of you will blindly vote for Jeter in this poll, so it really is not an indication of what people may actually be thinking.
However, I don't see how Todd Lickliter wouldnt win this award. He entered the season with a team that had been ransacked by transfers, and injury; leaving many BU fans wodering if we were even going to have enough guys to play. And I'm sure the fact that Butler was chosen to finish 5th (or was it 4th?) was only due to the respect that other teams within the confernce have for Butler. They could have easily been written off to finish at or near the bottom, considering the major question marks left with the roster fall-out.
While UWM and Jeter have certainly had a good year, I think you'd be kidding yourself if you said that they have played up to the expectations that come with the team that you returned from last year. I think that this is a good indicator of just how good of a coach Bruce Pearl was... unfortunately, I dont think Jeter is quite up to the same level of Pearl, YET. Some posts on this board wondered if UWM would win the conference by 5 games or more... honestly, at the time, I wouldnt have doubted it - and the fact that the team has lost the games it has, shows that there is definitely something lacking this year.
Hands down, Todd Lickliter should be this year's Horizon Coach of the Year.

Atherton, you make some good points and Lickliter has definitely had a good year, but keep in mind, it's easy to play loose and stay loose when the expectations are low.
I can only go by what I saw in person, and Biancardi really was much more impressive when Wright State was in Milwaukee - he coached a great game and toned down his screaming and f-bombing in favor of communicating with his players and the officials.
IMO, the points you make about Coach Jeter - that the expectations were way too high for a team that lost its leading scorer (McCants) and one of it best rebounders/defenders (James Wright) and the best coach in the conference - sing his praises rather than take away from what he's done. People always use the cliche "act like you've been there before" - well, Coach Jeter is acting like he's been there before and I think a lot of people are forgetting he hasn't been.
Also, regarding not meeting expectations this season, I'll go back to the sports cliche all-star list for one of my favorite little gems of wisdom - THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE FIRST PLACE - and that's where RJ has his team right now! If that's not meeting expectations, than I don't know what is.

BTW Atherton, I love the signature - were you referring to the G.O.A.T. LL Cool J, or the will Smith reference "like LL said, don't call it a comeback"

I agree Atherton Barber. No way Rob Jeter should win this award. Lickliter without any doubt.

This poll is trying to compare a bunch of apples and an orange. Rob's in a very unique circumstance in what he inherited. No, he's not Bruce, but who is. He's done quite well, but very hard to compare with other coaches in the league, so why bother. Also, I hated seeing that letter in the JS sports section this morning (Sunday). Give the guy a break, plus some time. The last two losses were very much from AT missing. No worse time to lose a key player than at crunch time. Let's see if we can survive Detroit without AT and see what the tourney brings us. We all know we can beat anyone in the league, home or away, when we play up to our abilities. That's well proven.
