Almost half way thru the conference season and its UWM and Wright St are on top with a bunch of teams at or around .500 after that.
UWM 6-1 Wright St. 4-1 UWGB 3-3 Cleveland St. 3-3 Butler 2-2 Loyola 3-4 Detroit 3-4 Youngstown St. 2-4 UIC 1-5
If last nights 13 point loss to GB is any indication Wright St. will drift closer towards the pack as the season goes on. After UWM I don't think another team is going to win more than 9 or 10 games in the conference season. Realistically I see us finishing anywhere from 12-4 to 14-2, but with some slip ups 11-5 or even 10-6 probably still wins the conference outright this year. Lots of parity in the league this season, just like the NFL.

I see us going undefeated the rest of the way, with one possible loss say at Butler, or Wright state, or somewhere. Other than that, I don't think anyone will come within 5 games of us.

I guess it really depends on Joah. To me he is the key to the equation. If Joah plays the way we know he can, then we will go undefeated the rest of the way. But if Joah stays in this slump, with the travels and turnovers, I think we will lose 2 more games. That is...@ Butler and @ Loyola.
On a side note, I really wish we can see more of Massiah and Young. You hear so much positive things (coming from practice) but we really haven't seen it displayed on the court this year.

with how shaky our perimeter defense has been and our overall defense in the 2nd half of games recently, i wouldn't be surprised if we lost @ either Loyola, Butler or WSU.

Neither of them has progressed to the point where they can step in and start without a significant drop in production at a position. TY will most likely be used more as we get into the crappy conference games (YSU, so on) and he'll get some solid D-I experience. Massiah can step in and start, say, if Joah gets injured, but he still has rhythym problems that need to be worked out, and he also isn't quite used to division I talent.

UIC actually winning a HL game last night gives us a bigger cushion over WSU. Butler also won at CSU, the beginnings of what I expect to be a steady climb up the standings the rest of the season for them.
Updated Standings 1. UWM 7-1 2. WSU 4-3 3. CSU 4-4 4. Det 4-4 5. But 3-3 6. LUC 3-4 7. GB 3-4 8. YSU 3-4 9. UIC 2-6

Great WSU loss. I was enjoying how some of the fans on their board were talking about us losing so many games during this upcoming road stretch. It seems they may need to focus on their schedule before they start worrying about ours.

Talk about a jumbled mess. Butler moved from 8th to 2nd in a matter of days.

yeah the conference standings so far are frickin' crazy w/ how close everything is. talk about every game being important! i thought butler being so low in the rankings was total crap even though they hadn't played as many games as others. what's important is the L column and these next three games couldn't be any more important. i hope we do no worse than 2-1.

Nearly the entire conference is within 1 game of each other. A five-way tie, with 2nd place and 8th place within 1 game of each other over halfway through the conference season=WOW! Now that's what I call parity. Updated 1-30 1. UWM 8-1 2. But.. 4-3 3. WSU 4-4 4. CSU. 4-5 5. Det.. 4-5 6. YSU. 4-5 7. LUC.. 4-5 8. GB... 4-5 9. UIC.. 3-6 graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/hori/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/trackabracket.pdfI still think Butler ends up running away with 2nd though. And that's good (provided we take care of business!) because they're closer than anyone else in the league to getting back into the RPI top 100, something we could really use to help bolster our resume. A win at UIC tonight for them may do it.

Updated as of 2/3...
UWM 9-2 Butler 6-3 Wright St. 6-4 UWGB 5-6 Detroit 5-6 Loyola 4-6 Cleveland St. 4-6 UIC 4-7 Youngstown St. 4-7
Wright St winning last night was an aberration; they won't finish much better than .500. Butler on the other hand seems to be steadily improving, a loss to them tomorrow and we'll have a serious pennant race on our hands. Hopefully UWM comes to play.
Regardless of tomorrows outcome, I still think we win the conference by at least 2 games.
