Wright St made some great adjustments on Boo Davis in the second half which really limited his touches much less his shots...
They became real real physical with him in the second half which I feel really disturbed the flow of his game

Terrific game. I thought that was Joah's best all-around game of the year (one of the coaches agreed with me about that when we spoke after the game). I also thought Avery played tremendous defense. He took fewer chances and let the steals come, and he stayed on his man like glue. We got stupid late in the first half and settled for jump shots, and WSU took advantage, but all in all that was a really well played game.
Nice crowd, too. Damn I wish our Saturday night games weren't consistently opposite Bucks games. Parking was a b****.

We held WSU to only 19 points in the second half. Anytime you can do that to a D 1 program you played some pretty awesome defense.
I noticed something last night too. They were extremely physical with us. They had one guy with four fouls they left in the game with 10 minutes to go. Obviously an enforcer. Seems that's how some teams are going to play us, very physical, to take us out of our offense, and it seems a lot of refs are going to let them do it.
One play I especially remember, was their center holding onto AT's arm and pulling it so he couldn't move. A ref was two feet and looked right at it, no call. Avo got hammered really bad going to the basket, no call. One of their guys was grabbing on Tucker's leg, no call. These were pretty blatant and all were seen by the refs.
I'm not saying we didn't get away with some stuff too, we did, but no where near what they did. And what about their coach getting in the way of a play. Isn't contact with a player on the court supposed to be an automatic technical?
Kind of sad when they can't beat honestly and have to rely on the refs to look the other way.

I agree with the above posts. All the players, Joah and Boo in particular, really appeared to play within the framework of the offense. I think Boo's shots (and, in turn, his scoring) was limited in the second half by a concerted effort to pound the ball inside and draw contact on Wright St. (some of which was called, much of which was not). The defensive effort in the second half was absolutely outstanding and would IMHO be enough to win every game the rest of the season.

Big D, you're a good man. You have an in-depth understanding of college basketball and it's reflected in your posts. One favor: Could you please ask Paul Biancardi to stay off the court while the ball's in play.

Laughing. This line was a priceless Bruce Pearl snippet repeated by play-by-play announcer Bill Johnson during last season's game at WSU: "When told by the officials to stop his protests or he would be hit with a technical, Bruce Pearl said, 'Listen, I heard what Coach Biancardi said to you guys and nothing that I could say would be worse than that.' "

Like I said, there were things we got away with too, but I sit close to one of the baskets. I didn't see anywhere near the blantant fouls on our part that I did on the part of Wright State. For one thing I didn't see our guys interlocking their arms with WSU players, grabbing their legs or putting hands ON (not in front of) the faces of opposing players. Nor did I see anyone out there in Milwaukee uniform whose sole purpose seemed to be disruption of their game no matter what it took to do that.
It was like Cleveland State revisited but not as bad as it was in that game. WSU is a good, well disciplined team, it's well coached too. And it's young. I think they will improve in the coming years and be a force to be reckoned with in the HL.

I took a leak in the urinal next to Biancardi's at the JUCO national tournament a couple years ago. I started up an awkward, 15-second urinal conversation with him, saying that I was a UWM grad and such. I'm just glad he kept his glares eye level

Sitting directly behind the WSU bench last year and listening to Biancardi spew obscenities while wearing his $9.99 Goodwill jacket and trying to control that psycho Zach Williams was pure comedy - a reality show worth watching.
