At least the sh*tty job by the refs made it an interesting game, being so close. Freeway also did a great job showing up in the second half in the student section. "What about Butler?" "What about the Butler Bulldogs?" He kept saying over and over.
Little touched in the head, good guy.

I just want to put this out there....we need more leaders in the Student Section...one side gets going and the other is quiet...and alot of quiet people tonight, at one point the CSU Bench was louder than the CELL! So...thats my two cents...we need to work on that!

There was a nice knot of younger fans in section 324 loudly leading cheers up there.

boy, what can you say except thank goodness they came out with a "W?" had a feeling that was the game we'd see, just like last year. while the officiating was horrid, we certainly deserved to be at the line that many times. frankly CSU should have been called for more. they were brutal down in the post. highlight of the night was the whole place really getting into the "left, right, sit down bum" chant after the foul-outs. hope that sticks for following games. it was hilarious, i don't care if it's stolen from Madison, who stole it from... also noticed Coach Jeter trying to waive off the "Robbie Jeter" chant. not sure if it was cause it was such a sucktacular game or if he just doesn't like the chant? thought it was interesting either way.

I don't think he was waving it off. I think he was acknowledging it.

I don't think he was waving it off. I think he was acknowledging it. not only did he acknowledge the chant, he acknowledged jdbrew's and my "Horizon League Refs Suck" chant to which one of the refs acknowledged hearing too. i believe Jeter said something to them like "bet you've never heard that one before".

My eternal gratitude, sport, for mentioning the young pocket of fans in 324. Fifteen years out of school and I can still bring it. I will say that I was disappointed in the entire crowd, the students especially, for not picking up the team when it needed it badly. We all know that as a mid-major, the team simply cannot afford a loss in games such as this (any home game, for that matter) or you can kiss the Horizon League Tournament (and the resultant NCAA bid) goodbye. We stood and cheered the entire second half to the point that my voice is of little use today. Can all the students say the same? In understand that there was a holiday hangover factor at play for all parties, but honestly a little bit more is expected of what I consider to be a stellar student section.

Anyone else wonder why Cleveland State stole Triple H's sledgehammer and brought it on the court in warmups?

No problem Dylan. Some of the "older fans" (like me) were joining in your a lot of your cheers. It was good to see some spirit outside of the student section.
The crowd was loud at times just not consistently.

I was too busy giving the refs an earful from Section 210 to join in the cheers on the other side of the building.

It was diffrent going up to 324 last night...Fenske was there and I had to hang with him. But usually im down in the student section...seeing as im a student, but looking down from there I see where the leaders are...and where work needs to be done.
One more thing guys...just dont "groan" or "sigh" when we miss a shot, we gotta clap it up and give those guys confiedence...i noticed a few times with JT would miss a FT, or JMac would miss a shot they looked hurt about the crowd...so im ranting and Im done

You guys are all right.
Besides the small pocket of us down on the west corner of the student section, the whole section is weak. I wasn't even proud of our job up front.
I work Saturday night, or else I would move to the other side of the student section and try and rise the dead.
Time for a game plan.

student section will be fine. it was a bad night, the team was bad, the refs were much worse than normal, the audience as a whole was bad, it happens. it'll also be a lot easier to get excited to see Butler than CSU. also having no band sucked. the version of our fight song they played was WAY too slow. we'll rebound, there's nothing to worry about. One more thing guys...just dont "groan" or "sigh" when we miss a shot, we gotta clap it up and give those guys confiedence...i noticed a few times with JT would miss a FT, or JMac would miss a shot they looked hurt about the crowd i'm sorry but some of those missed shots last night were f*cking PATHETIC. tucker's miss from 2" away was absurd as well as other VERY easy shots that hit everything possible besides the net. i never lost faith in the team but at the same time i wasn't going to run over and hug them all either. same w/ the sequence of allowing CSU 4 O. rebounds and then allowing a 3 pt. was just sad. i'll still be cheering for them but as fans we need to hold them accountable for how they're performing on the court instead of just kissing their ass every time they play like CSU. it's ok to sigh and groan at times.

Haha, yeah us 324 boys can def. make some noise and try to get the older folks going, but we need the help from the students.
And just a point of information, but did I get the middle finger from someone down there when I put my hand to my ear in hopes of getting some noise raised haha?

OK, let me just say that I agree about the other end of the student section needing to turn it up a notch....BUT I will say as the furthest-most person on that end at games, we VERY often can't pick up on it.....especially when there were as few people as last night. We only were able to hear enough to pick up on the score, score, score part of that cheer...We need to be sure our cheers are heard all the way to the players bench, or the students on that end can't hear them either!
