Its interesting to see that Tigert still holds Pearl leaving against him (completely understandable though). It now seems likely that not all the players would have been very happy seeing coach Pearl at the Tennessee Tech game.
"I was lucky enough that we were so successful that our coach left for so-called better things and another great coach came in," Tigert said.

I think it's safe to say that UWM basketball's voice of reason doesn't truly feel that its former coach left for better things.

That's to be expected. Pearl preached that loyalty and a sense of family was more important than anything. He told the guys they could win it all. Then he left and said he did so because if he hadn't he'd have been "stuck in Milwaukee for the rest of my life" and because he wanted to win a national title.
No matter how it was sugar coated, that had to rankle some players. Especially since they will literally be "stuck in Milwaukee" for the rest of their careers.
