We dont have any very good shooters on this team. We have several guys that can shoot and have the ability to get hot.

Boo has proven he can shoot at this level.Until Avery does that,I'm going to question his shooting. And Boo's 1 great shooting half is more than Avery has at this point.

If you look back at the shots he took last night they weren't smart shots and a dumb shot can make any good shooter have an off night look at joah he tried doing a turn around jumper over a defender twice and he missed but that's not because he is a bad shooter. Avery even missed a lay up I think he gets a little too eager with the ball but man when he calms down and does soak in what Jeter is telling him I think we will see something special from Mr. Smith

Speaking of being to eager with the ball then we do not need to look any further than some of Youngs shots last night.

Yeah but if Young was shooting from the NBA's 3pt land he would have been money haha

Speaking of being to eager with the ball then we do not need to look any further than some of Youngs shots last night. i didn't see the game but i've noticed in the past w/ him that he seems to be trying to do too much too quickly IMO. perhaps b/c he's trying to show Jeter his stuff in order to get more minutes? either way i'm glad he's back in the rotation for now and hope to see more improvement down the road.

I think he is slowly gaining Jeters respect since Young found himself in the game about 10 min. into the first half if i recall. He played ok, but no doubt being such a close game Jeter did not want him in there just jacking up shots like he has shown he will do in the last two games now.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Avery is no where near the best player to play for UWM. I'd put Clay, Ronnie, Dylan, Ed and Joah ahead of him, as well as many others. He's not a starter and doesn't shoot all that well from the outside. At this point, he's a solid role player. I would just like to point out that sure Avery did not start the game against Hawaii but he in fact did play a whole minute more than our "starter" Chris Hill. I say chew on that for awhile. Also Chris seemed a bit lowercase on the court that night, i wonder if Avery's getting in his head a bit. Don't get me wrong i love Hill, and this can't be a bad thing when we have two points playing a good chunk of the game and doing a pretty good job.

Speaking of Franklin, I've heard comparisons drawn between him and Trevon Hughes. If that's the case, watch out. Saw Hughes play Friday night and the kid is for real. At 6-foot-1, about 205 pounds, the kid's solidly built, an explosive leaper with tremendous shooting range and great confidence. If Ricky's cut from the same cloth, we've really got something special.

The reason Hill's minutes were down Saturday was he got himself into foul trouble again.

Any one have a clue what Franklin is doing to stay in hoop shape and improve his game since he can not practice with the team?

You will all be glad to know that the game was not even over before I began my feature on Avery Smith.
Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, you can pick up the UWM Post and read about the new star of UWM.

Any one have a clue what Franklin is doing to stay in hoop shape and improve his game since he can not practice with the team? i know he's on an intramural squad but i don't know if it's w/ the school or elsewhere. i know he did score 52 points in a game around the time of our Platteville game but that's all i've heard. i'm guessing the coaching staff has given him some type of workout routine for this year. i know someone close to the staff said that he definitely has Big 10 talent. can't wait to see it.

As long as he takes care of his business in the class room and he makes it to the court he might be the best player to date to suit up for UWM.
