I never thought that UWM got enough of this kind of thing.
An in-depth preview would be a stretch to ask for in recent years, seeing as we had no true beat writer that was first and foremost a UWM writer.
But this year, Bobbi Roquemore is on the UWM beat. I don't think she was asked by the sports editor to do an in-depth preview of the game, which should have been the case. I hope that the coming season brings more coverage on the Panthers.
Not knowing much about Upper Iowa University isn't a sin. This is a D-II school, and, you guys saw the candidates for the douchebag chant.
What would have happened in the preview would be uninteresting and scant, so the editor probably just decided to keep it to the basics: our team.
UIU doesn't offer anything interesting. If there were an in-depth coverage, the reading populace would skip it over besides those of us who are true Panthers and Panther fans.
I don't think this season will yield such skeletal reporting. There isn't anything to say about UIU. The same thing last year came up with Prairie View A&M.
I suppose in a perfect world, we'd have some solid pre-game analysis. But with over half the sports section committed to advertisers, the editor has to pick and choose. He just picked wrong in our eyes for today's paper.
