Not sure if anyone else noticed, but at jsonline.com they have online chats that are scheduled weekly. "JS Online hosts regular weekday chats with Journal Sentinel columnists and a handful of outside authorities on a variety of topics. So stop in. You can post a question any time in advance of a scheduled chat." Today at 6pm Bobbi Roquemore will be answering questions about the UWM Men's Basketball team heading into the 2005-'06 season. Go to: www.jsonline.com/chat/chat.asp?action=post_question&id=roquemore to post a question.

I must say I feel honored that some Giggly, pimply faced Wells Street nerd is so intimidated by me as to assume my name for the purpose of trying to deflect attention from Marquette's abject fear of playing the Panthers. Too bad for the little guy that Bobbi didn't take the bait.

This chat actually gave me a lot more respect for Bobbi than I had before. Her knowledge of incoming recruits Leneal Harris, along with even knowing Clay Tucker's name means she is doing her job and getting info about UWM basketball. I guarantee her saying, "Marquette, though, is in the same boat as UWM, at least in terms of NCAA status (Both are I-AAA schools, basically D-I schools that don't offer football). So a 6-for-1? Pul-lease" will cause a huff with that other Milwaukee school (though factually correct) that pretends not to care about us. Look I was right! marquette.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=442&mid=62655933&sid=&tid=62655933&style=1Edit: Just so this doesn't stir up Marquette fans to come over here and complain, I think Bobbi's logic is flawed. Because Marquette doesn't have a football team they must depend on basketball revenue more so than UW. A 6 for 1 is in their best interest (More guaranteed money). Marquette has tons of basketball history blahblahblah... Pissing match over ;D

Here is an e-mail I sent to Roquemore. Let me know what you guys think and if you're in agreement with me. By the way, I haven't received a response yet and I'll post it if I do:
Bobbie-
Thanks for yesterday’s chat. I need something clarified because I’m highly confused. Here is a statement you made in yesterday’s chat:
"And they're going to have to adjust their mentality on the fly and leave the past in the past."
Now juxtapose that with what was said in an article dated April 7, written when Rob Jeter was named as the new head coach:
Although Ryan isn't known for coaching an up-tempo style of basketball, Jeter said he planned to continue the frenetic style that was so successful for Pearl.
"These guys like to play an up-tempo style, and I see no reason that we wouldn't continue playing that way," he said. "We're going to continue to play a style of basketball that will make us successful and there is no reason to change that.
"We've got a point guard like Chris Hill who can get up and down the floor and make plays and a guy like Joah Tucker, who is so versatile."
Jeter said he could see a continuation of the up-tempo game for UWM even after the core group of the team, including Tucker, Hill, Adrian Tigert, Boo Davis, Mark Pancratz, Jason McCoy and Derrick Ford, graduates after next season.
"It's funny you mentioned that, because I've played on teams and coached teams that scored in the 90s," Jeter said. "I like that style of basketball."
So what are UWM fans like myself supposed to expect going forward? Did Jeter tell you something the rest of us don’t know? You said in the chat that they better adjust to a new style of basketball, yet Jeter maintained at his hiring that they’ll continue to run and press. And I don’t know what they were trying to do on Tuesday against Memphis. What the heck is going on?

There's no "e" at the end of her first name.
The Journal Sentinel would not have her being the beat writer for UWM if she weren't educated on the history of the school.
My UWM Post seat is right next to her JS seat at the men's basketball games, and I can assure you she knows a lot more than you think she does.

uwm97 -- your question is fair, but there is nothing necessarily contradictory here. Rob needs to build the base of what he wants to do on offense and defense, just like BP did. Once the players understand the base, they can play uptempo or down. And on defense, once they understand the base half court defense, they can also apply the press. It's not either or -- it's a unified whole.
I saw a lot of groundwork being laid in the first three games. Hang in there -- it will come.

Hey Jimmy, I wasn't trying to be a wiseguy. Calm down a bit buddy. It's a legitimate question and my uneasiness lies with Jeter, not your friend Bobbi. By the way, I was writing at the Post long before you were enrolled at UWM.

Jeter is just making his points and controlling his team. Wins will come this year and will only be followed by many more in years to come with his own recruits.

If you weren't being a wiseass, then why slap me down at the end of your little message? Stop trying to measure your dick, I don't care.
I wasn't losing my temper or anything, merely stating she knows what she's talking about.

Jimmy you got to get a clue to how this whole board thing works. I know you are new to the school and the program, but please just chill out. There are other opinions out there (not just your own) you did the same thing by telling me to "eat it" grow up, and just enjoy the basketball, and the people who will discuss it
GO PANTHERS
