I am wondering if the like of Tosa East stud Jerry Smith, St. John's Delafield standout Trevon Hughes, JC transfer Torre Johnson and others maybe heading to Knoxville along with Childress.

Actually, I think he can get out of the LOI without any help from the university. Since the coach left before he enrolled, I think he can get out of it with no penalty. I believe he could enroll at TN this fall.
I may be wrong, so please correct me if so.

Coach needs to be fired Lou, not hired away.

That makes sense.
So...he cannot get out of the LOI without the new coach's approval?
We need to hire someone who can keep the excitement level up!! If we can keep Childress, I will be happy!

When a player signs the LOI, that player is commited to the school, not the coach. If the new coach and staff want to play hardball with a recruit that wants out of the LOI, the school can deny the release, and if the player doen't honor the LOI and attend that school, the player would have to sit out a year and lose a year of eligibility as well. In reality, almost all schools grant the release if the coach the player signed up to play for is no longer there. They don't want the bad publicity and the possibility of turning off future recruits by playing hardball.
