Please, lets just hope that BP is the only one to goto UT, and everyone stay here, and hope that Childress still comes here too.

well, enjoy the coaching black hole that is the University of Tennessee. this is the "no-brainer" job we've been hearing about? wow.
let's hope we've built enough stock in this program to attract another great coach. it would truly be a shame not to be able to build on what has been accomplished over the last few years.

Pearl Pearl to be named UT coach today By NEWS SENTINEL STAFF March 28, 2005 Tennessee has scheduled a press conference for 3 p.m. today to announce the hiring of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Bruce Pearl as basketball coach. Pearl, 45, guided Wisconsin-Milwaukee to the third round of the NCAA tournament last week before losing to No. 1-ranked Illinois. He has a 317-84 coaching record through 13 seasons. Advertisement He replaces Buzz Peterson, who was fired after about four years at Tennessee. Pearl is a former assistant at Boston College, Stanford and Iowa. i feel bad mostly bc i believed bruce when he said that he is loyal and that he could see himself making a career here in milwaukee. deep down , i knew he was prolly just trying to get milwaukee to make him a better offer or just be candore to the media.
i should of saw this coming too. the majority of mid level schools who get sucess end up having to rebuild bc faculty move on to bigger places with bigger pockets.
Hack, i am getting the feeling that you will be carrying the torch for people who feel ok with this decision. im guessing you have been here for a while and you have seen coaches come and go and you have see that UWM can still be sucessfull. I guess, this fall was something i really was going to look forward too. 7 returning starters and a coach that can win. A coach who everyone loves. I was hoping for one more year.
But on the other hand money talks. I guess one last magical year does not amount to 850 k . and i know the flip to that argument. Pearl is doing what is best for his career and his family. BUt, milwaukee has become his yeast smelling family whether people agree or not. My dad has never put money into this basketball program untill this year. Ive been pushing since i came to UWM and he always told me its not the best investment to put money into a mid major coach bc once they get sucessfull those coaches most likly leave.
right now, im not mad at pearl. im not upset. i just feel really sad and i was hoping for one more year. just one more year.
maybe we can change our name from the milwaukee panthers to the Milwaukee resume builders or the milwaukee stepping stones. anyone?
