So very proud...

What a year and what a giant leap forward for our men’s basketball program. Who would have thought 5 years ago we’d see record crowds, amazing players, and a city whipped up into a frenzy over our UWM Panthers? I always dreamed it but always kind of figured it was something that would play out mostly in my head. To see our Panthers advance not once but twice in the NCAA tournament has been nothing short of witnessing a dream coming true. I’m so thankful for having been part of this right out of the gates… for believing and watching it all unfold right before our eyes. In the process I even got greedy… I wanted more cause I “still wasn’t satisfied.” The players and coaches proved that we belong with the big boys and it was infectious. We all believed in this team and rightfully so… they’re awfully good.

While it was painful to witness the season come to an end last night I was so happy to have had the opportunity to be there in person with our team. It felt like a fitting end. And personally, the proudest moment last night came in the closing minute. With the loss apparent, an unbelievable gold-clad UWM crowd, that never sat the entire game, chanted at the top of their lungs, “UWM, UWM, UWM...” I don’t know if I’ve ever screamed my alma maters name any louder. I couldn’t have been or be more proud of this team, this university, and the people who support both. I’m so glad that for a couple weeks the rest of the city, state, and country got to see what I’ve been so proud of for a long time. It’s been so fun to share with everyone.

Indeed a great year, and a HUGE step taken by this team this year. I know it's early, but I am already excited about next year. I believe in my heart that this is a program that has only begun to scratch the surface of what is possible.

Another proud moment was back in Milwaukee. I watched the game among others at RC's on North Ave. Previous to arriving, there was also a line outside BBC @ 6:30, not doubt for game. Anyways, at the end of the game, everyone in RC's began clapping for the commendable loss, almost a pseudo standing ovation from 100 miles away. Everyone was just as happy for the rest of the night on our run to the Sweet 16!

I had to find the local sports bar in Hawaii, where I am on spring break but I was still able to watch the boys. Funny enough Ed's girlfriends' sister was there too!!...small world. Couldn't be more proud of the team or our school

To start I want to say Congratulations to the Panthers on a great season! You put UWM on the map and we couldn't be more proud of you all! I was on Spring Break when the game against BC was on and we went to a local restaurant and got to watch the final couple minutes! It was such an exciting experience and something I will never forget.
I wore my UWM t-shirt on the plane and in airports and got lot's of cheers and go UWM chants from complete strangers! One guy approached me on the plane and said he was in Germany and he had heard the Panthers had won and they were in the Sweet Sixteen. He asked me when the game was and said he was cheering for UWM.
You brought together the city of Milwaukee and basketball fans everywhere. No longer will UWM be thought of as the underdog in any game, anywhere! Congratulations again and I can't wait for next season!
