I was very proud to be a Panther alum tonight. We were kind of a stream of gold in a sea of orange and we never shut up or sat down. Tonight the middle aged alums acted like the student section.
They did it because you couldn't give up when the team wouldn't. They weren't having an A game tonight but they refused to believe that meant they had to lose. This team may not have the most talent in the tournament (although they are damn good) but they have the most guts.
Illinois is a fantastic team but we hung with them. On a different night, when our shooters are hot; when Williams and Brown are not having great nights; maybe at home or on a nuetral court, we could beat them. Not most games, but some of them. AND WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT - EVEN TWO YEARS AGO - THAT WE COULD TALK WITH A STRAIGHT FACE ABOUT POSSIBLY BEATING THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY.
Note to Bud Haidet: You're a miracle worker too. Pay Bruce. I mean big. We'll be money ahead.
