They are the most overrated team of all time and They play in a crappy conference. You match up well with them because of your press and their lack of depth. They are also soft on the inside. They hardly have a frontcourt. I made the same post about you beating boston college and look what happened.

Wow! Tell us how you REALLY feel! In all fairness, I doubt we are the most overrated team "of all time". I don't think we are the same team that waxed both Wake Forest and Gonzaga early in the year, but I do think we are deserving of the #1 ranking. Our crappy conference put 5 teams in the NCAA tournament. Soft on the inside!? James Augustine has arguably been our best player over the last 4 games, 23 pts, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 4 steals vs Nevada doesn't look soft to me. Roger Powell is a tough match-up for most teams and a solid player. Jack Ingram off the bench at 6'10" gives us big minutes and another inside presence. I do however look for a good game between these two teams. My early prediction...Illinois 68 - UWM 63

Well we certainly can hope for a Panther win and I do believe we are capable of doing so...However, we must be realistic...They are a damn good team and I dont care what conference you play if you run the table that is impressive...They are in a formidable Big 10 conference...Here is how I see the matchups
Dee Brown is so so so so quick....Chris will need to bring his A game...Dee has not be scoring of late so hopefully that will continue
Deron Williams will be a tough matchup for McCants but Ed has certainly proved himself to be worthy of any attnetion he is getting
Roger Powell and Joah Tucker is going to be the matchup of matchups to watch...It is going to be physical...They both can step back and hit three and they can both take it to the hoop...They are both about the same size..
Luther Head will be a damn tough matchup for UWM...Boo DAvis will probably get this task which will leave Augustine for Tigert
Adrian has proved the last two games he is more than capable of matching up against huge dudes...BCs center was 7-0 yesterday and a horse and Bamas big man was also 6-10...Adrian gets MVP for us so far in my book the way he has played....
Also Augustine has proven not to be so comfortable away from the basket which is exactly what UWM does...
Engram coming off the bench is big but no bigger than Ford or McCoy...Those guys have come in and been great presences....I Like our match up on paper and I believe we can do this but I also konw that 34 other teams probably felt the same way as I do...
Lets spread em out, knock down our shots, pressure them on D and pray to the Gods that we pull the most amazing upset and Cinderella story of the ages
Go Panthers

Will we beat the Illini? I sure hope so, but the reality is this:
They are a better team, and if they play as well as they can, we are going to have to get very lucky. But..... If Illinois comes out flat, or takes us lightly, I feel an upset is definitely possible.
Anything can happen. Why not us, why not now?

They would beat us 9 out of 10 games...hell it may even be 19 out of 20, but that one game, that is what the tournament is about. Top seeds are dropping left and right. UConn just went down. We have to Dream we can win before we do it, and I've been dreaming in black and gold all week long.

WOW....these guys have issues.. look at this post from the UI Board
"Quote:The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
that is truely great.. FU BRUCE PEARL, I HOPE YOU DIE OF SYPHILLIS AND ROT IN HELL YOU PIECE OF TRASH!!!!!!!! GO ILLINI AND BEAT THEM BY 50...
I was at a Brewer game a couple years ago against the Cardinals.. This game is uin Milwaukee.. I'm in the 3rd row down the first base line.. They are recognizing UWM for a good season.. Here I am the only Pearl hater in the place.. I stood up gave him a big boo, and flipped him the bird.. Oh HOW I HATE THAT MAN.."
really, really pathetic

well put Lou
"WHY NOT US? WHY NOT NOW?"
I do agree that the Illini are an extremely great and very talented team, i would say that if brown and williams decide to leave after this year that they could be sending possible 3 of the top 5 guards in college to the draft so that shows they have talent but i think the thing that this tournament has shown us is that anything can happen and anything usually will, so far. seriously who would have said that there would be a 12 (who beat a 4), 10 (who beat a 2), 7 (who beat another 2) in the Sweet 16?
i am hoping for a win as well, and anything is possible but thats why they play the game, otherwise there would be no such thing as an upset.

Illinois is not invincible. I can imagine that Bruce is going to be intensely analyzing the Illinois vs Ohio State game and see exactly what Illinois did wrong. That situation is going to have to be replicated if UWM has any chance of winning this game.
The Ohio State loss exposed the Illini and it shows that they are "only human" and are beatable.
Should be a very interesting game.
Prediction: Illinois: 72 UWM: 65

yeah i wouldnt call illinois, as much as i hate them, overrated. they have 30+ victories, if theres another team that deserves to be #1 name it i'd like to hear the arguement. if anything BC and Syracuse are the most overrated this year. the tourney this year IMO wasn't seeded properly using old reputations for high seeds and newcomers/mid majors getting shafted with the lower seeds, it would explain the huge # of upsets this year.

Well, they better bring their "A" game then, wouldn't you agree? I hope the Illini team is underestimating us as much as some of their fans are!

I hope the Illini team is underestimating us as much as some of their fans are! Maybe they can get their scouting reports from BC's Dudley and Marshall. ;D

Honestly, Alabama and BC were overrated... although still impressive victories...
The only common opponents between the two schools: Valparaiso: You lost 72-71, we killed them. Wisconsin: You lost 66-37... we beat them 3 times.
...With the way we play defense, and the fact that we are one of hte best passing teams in the nation, I am not TOO worried...
There is always the "any given night" factor... and i would imagine the 'Zona and OSU fans in attendance would rather play UWM and not Illinois... although I imagine of the 13,500 non-alloted tickets, about 75-80% will be orange.

You can't compare teams playing other teams it means nothing. It is how you match up against each other. besides those games were early in the season, we have won 18 of our last 19 games and are playing very well as a team. It can be done!!!
