Driving Saturday through the Home State of the Crimson Tide and racing to get to Panama City Beach before the 4:30 tip-off, our two car loads of Panther Spring Breaker Fans tuned in to the unfolding story via cellphones and a sketchy Cingular Wireless internet connection on a laptop.
On the way south, we passed by a luxury car with the license plate, ALABAMA, who's driver gave us the thumbs up, a clear sign that the Tide had Turned to the Black & Gold.
With yet another Alabama team on TV at the same time as UWM, we figured we'd have a rough time getting the local townie bars in Dothan to play our game, so we blasted on down to the Holiday Inn SunSpree at full speed.
Rest assured, it was the US Cell "South" in our hotel room, as we watched the second half on CBS with the rest of the Basketball Planet.
We were treated to highlights of the game at Applebee's afterwards and sang songs of tribute to astonished pedestrians, as we drove to Harpoon Harry's to continue the Celebration of the New Millenium.
All hats go off to the team, it's staff, and to our fellow fans who have built support from just a few hundred to thousands, nay... millions.
It is truly, truly, a Sweet 16 Day for UWM. On with the show and good luck to The Men of UWM.
"Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore." said Dorothy to her dog.
