Some suggestions on places for Panther Fans to meet up...
Boneyard Beer Farm 748 Prospect Ave. Cleveland, 44115 132 beer list. Located near The Jake and all the downtown hotels.
Flannery's Pub 323 Prospect Avenue E. Cleveland, OH 44113 Near the Beerfarm (above), an Irish Pub like Mo's.
Great Lakes Brewing Co. 2516 Market Avenue The best micro brewery I've been to (and that's a lot)!
There are also a ton of bars in the Warehouse District on W. 6th Street. Near the downtown hotels.
Don't go to The Flats. Its time has passed, most places have closed and are abandoned. A fate I predict will happen to the "Pabst City" idea going on here (the same investor/developer as The Flats, but that topic is for another place).

My wife & I did a baseball tour around the great lakes region last summer, and spent a few nights in Cleveland. I extensively research places to eat, drink, & see before I hit a town. We were both shocked to see what happened to The Flats area. We visited during Cleveland's big revival back in the 90's. Unfortunately, it didn't last. Last year I read a poll that rated Cleveland the worst big city in the US based on income & unemployment rates (it's city gov was the poorest). When we went last year...it was like night and day from the 90's. We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel downtown (2nd most posh behind The Ritz) and we were bombarded with homeless people and beggars every time we left the hotel. We never felt unsafe, but it wasn't how it was in the 90's. I walked 7 blocks downtown until I found a trash can to throw away an empty water bottle. We walked 3 blocks from the Renaissance Hotel to the Warehouse District bars (W 6th St.) and darted back and forth across the street because of several homeless people sleeping on the sidewalks. It made me proud to live in Milwaukee. They may try to clean things up for the NCAA's, I hope so. Don't get me wrong, we had a fun time. We found some neat places in the Ohio City neighborhood (check out the West Side Market www.westsidemarket.com/ ), the Tremont neighborhood (check out Lola restaurant www.lolabistro.com ), and the University Circle neighborhood (check out the Arabica coffee house and the Museums in the area). Regardless of what we experienced last summer, I would go back to Cleveland anytime....especially to see the Panthers win!!!!!!!!!

Is there a consensus on meeting up Wednesday night for those who are coming in the night before?

I think you may be referring to the "flats".........I have no idea what it is like today, but it was a good time in 94-95. At least that is what I heard, I stayed in the hotel like we were supposed to.

I think you may be referring to the "flats".........I have no idea what it is like today, but it was a good time in 94-95. At least that is what I heard, I stayed in the hotel like we were supposed to. IT's funny you bring up the flats, here is the story: There is a river that splits the area. On each side you have a group of bars and they would run boats back and forth so you could bar hop in between the two flats. Aparently some stupid drunk people decided to begin to swim across the river to get to the other side. Also people brought private boats in and docked them to travel back and forth. You can see where this is going, people started to dround and boats would run over drunks in the water and get into boating accidents. How stupid can you be, its dark, you are drunk, there is water, and there are drunk people driving boats. There is no way you could get me into that water!!!!!! So they decided to close down one side of the flats. So only one side of the flats is open, from my understanding.

You may be right on them closing down one side (the side closest to the city). It was literally a ghost town. We could see accross the river that there was a complex open with a bunch of different bars, but it looked dead.
I would still try W 6th street in the Warehouse District for bar hopping.

Anyone know what time they open on thursday? It will be St. Pats Day, I know the bars out here open at like 5am,but I don't know if that is just a Wisconsin thing? We are leaving at 1am and will have some time to kill.
