I just glanced at UMass's board. So far, only one mention of Pearl (and the poster only mentioned him because he was listing Katz's list). www.umasshoops.com/board/index.php

Without having any "inside" info, I'd assume BP's deal with UWM exceeds $500,000. His base is $275K this year. Normally, a coach's base salary is the SMALLEST portion of his contract.

I know where you are coming from 97.......and I agree, but afterall, this is UWM and the compensation thing is new to them, so all "rules" may not apply yet. haha As was stated before, BP is in a very good spot from a mid-major perspective - I don't see him leaving unless abig-time power school comes knocking (read = A10 Umass does not qualify . )

I think either a Big 10, Big 12 or Big East school will be what finally takes Bruce away from Milwaukee. In addition to the salary, other things to take into consideration whether Bruce is going to leave or not anytime soon is 1) his family situation - his oldest daughter is a freshman at UW, his oldest son will be a senior at Nicolet in the fall and he has two younger children in school...2) He has been pushing that Tony Jones is ready for a head job and that is definitely a possibility at Eastern Michigan - I don't think Bruce would be pushing to find Tony a job if he planned on leaving any time soon...3) Next year's squad has the chance to be very special as well with 7 seniors (Tucker, Tigert, Hill, Davis, Ford, McCoy and Pancratz) and a strong recruiting class that includes juco transfers Waters and Douglas, as well as Childress and possibly adding Torre Johnson or Vincent's Elliott Johnson into the mix...who knows, Dupree Fletcher is still a possibility as well as he is now at Garden City CC under the guidance of Ryan Swanson and Ronnie Jones. I can't see Bruce leaving before next year's senior class graduates...another special year for the 05-06 season and all bets are off though...

I believe Pearl makes about 375 a year and got about 20% in bonuses from winning coach of the year, horizon league title and the tourney. I agree it will take a BCS a conference to take him away

One thing I am certain of:
Bruce will not go to a school where he does not feel he can win consistently. That makes teams like Florida St, Tennessee, Arizona St, and similiar BCS schools out of the picture. I would be shocked beyond belief if he were to take any such offer.
UMass? Not a chance.
