We did not play well but still managed to get it done. I am so damn excited that our bench played so well. They flat out came out and saved our asses. Wright played like sh*t in the first half but made up for it wiht some huge plays in the second half. Mark played the game of his life and McCoy was awesome tonight all around. This was an emotional win and one that can really be used for momentum and for a wake up call for this team coming down the home stretch.
NOt to jinx us or anything but if for some reason we would win out and win the tourney we would end up 24-5 (14-2) and one of the hottest teams in the NCAA...I feel we could pull a 10-11 seed possibly. Who knows, but the prospect of it is awesome
Bracketology had us playing Gonzaga in the first round which is a winnable game for us and if we win we would get another crack at Wisconsin which would be so so so so so sweet. Almost as sweet as it would be to knock off Marquette in the NCAA, but wait, that wont happen cause MU aint making the NCAA. They will be lucky if they make the NIT..Hahahaha and they still think they have a logical arguement that they are better than us. You would think for 20,000 a year they would teach them some logic. Go figure

UWM's Magic Number to clinch:
3
Could clinch at least a share of the regular season title Saturday with a win over YSU and a UWGB loss to Loyola. Considering the way Loyola has been playing, that could likely happen.

OK. i was at last nights game and i have to say loyola's student section sucked. they really had no knowledge of what to cheer. they were rude. they threw things at us. after the game some people threatened us and had to be told by the police to leave. they attacked our cheerleaders while some of theirs looked like killer whales. i'll give some examples 1. they chanted "Deon Tomas" which makes no sence...the only connection is that it happened in the state of illinios. you should have cheers that pertain to YOUR school. not your rival chicago school. 2. they had signs with jimmy on them....same reasoning as before. 3. they threw gold balls at us. at least 3 during the course of the game. 4. they chanted "cottage cheese" at some of our cheerleaders. which they had more double wide and fugly cheerleaders than i have ever seen. 5. the chanted "why so quiet" at a timeout when they were up by like 6 with 11 min left 6. they missed like 10 oppertunities to chant fundamentals at us when we traveled, couldnt catch a pass, missed a lay up. 7. at like 6 min we started chanting "defense ,clap, clap, defense, clap, clap" during which their team did not really make a field goal for the rest of the game. but to counter our cheer they chanted "LU, clap, clap" which matches perfectly with our cheer and just makes it louder for their players. even though it may have been a few that were total dicks, we get judged by the actions of a few fans, so i will judge them the same. i think they were ill-informed, un-educated assholes. Kudos to the panther fans that went. we were loud, unified and i didnt hear or see anything that could be deemed classless or disrespectful from any of us. Good job, See you all at YSU this sat. - bruceismyhomeboy

Great time at LU although I was, and still am sick as h***. Had to square off with the horned guy. Snuck into the Jesuit Jam after the game and ate some pizza. Good times. Was hanging out with some guys I know from down there. Actually the horned guy was questioning why they were chanting 'why so quiet" as well.

I was also at the game in the front row, and have to say how impressed I was with the crowd that we brought. Couple of things: 1. Refereeing was crappy, big surprise. 2. Their crowd was stupid but, it was a few morons making them all look stupid. 3. It is true that we can say after our crowd started chanting defense everytime we were on it, UL never made a shot besides a couple at the line. So, way to go!! We (the crowd) played some awesome defense the last 8 min. But one must argue that we only fired up the guys to play such awesome defense.

First off, good game, you guys are a solid team. I'm assuming you did not play your best game last night, but still pulled out the win. Sign of a good team; hopefully you'll make some noise in the NCAA for the league if you come out of the HL tournament.
To reply to the inane student section comments, as an observer not sitting in either one. First, I've never known a student to compliment another student section, so thanks for adding a highly original opinion. I think you need to ask yourself why you and others get so upset by a Deon Thomas chant ... it has everything to do with your school, because Bruce Pearl is your coach, and he and Jimmy Collins each played a role in one of the most embarrassing chapters in recent NCAA history. I'd be touchy about it too, I guess. Also, your comment about not chanting "Fundamentals?" You know, different schools do different things. There isn't some guidebook that dictates what you have to do and when. And the most ridiculous complaint is that they matched your defense chant with an LU chant ... THAT'S WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU CHEER. You try and drown out the opposition and psych up your team.
I'm sure I'll be criticized here and that's fine; UWM brought the most fans to the Joe besides UIC, and they were far more vocal than even those guys; but to claim that you saw nothing classless or disrespectful from the UWM fans in the same thought as calling LU students "ill-informed, un-educated assholes" is more than a bit hippocritical.
Good luck the rest of the way.

ok, the assholes part was not needed and i apoligize.
but on your board we were called the worst behaved fans, and last night we were much much better behaved than your fans. i was just expressing my opinion about your student section. i didnt think they were clever, funny, or creative. The 'Deon Tomas' chant confused us more that it upset us because i thought it was out of place and irrevelant to the game being played. The student section chanted odd things at odd times. they threw stuff at us. i got flipped off a couple times. i personally would have stopped chanting "LU, clap, clap" after maybe about 4 min after going scoreless while doing it...it wouldnt have stopped us from yelling, but maybe it was the noise that your players couldnt handle. i think it would have been worth a try.
what did you see us doing last night that would make us considered classless? (and coming into your place and out-cheering you doesn't count)

I didn't call your fans classless, and I mentioned how impressive it was to see such a vocal group come down for a road game; I just thought your ripping on us while claiming how nice you were was a bit off the mark. I don't remember who put up the list of fans on our site, but I remember it being stupid. If you're confused by the Deon Thomas chant, I'm disappointed in the rest of the fans around the league for not knowing their basketball history. If I was still in school or organizing stuff, I'd have everyone in the section bring in tape recorders and hold them up every time Pearl talked to a player or ref. The chant lasted about 5 cycles, and it was a quiet moment during the game, and you could certainly hear some less-than-polite responses coming from your fans. Not that I care; that's part of the game and part of being a fan.

we werent confused by the content of the Deon Tomas, just the reason it was being used. but hey i guess if it is what they want to cheer, i cant stop them. i'l just continue thinking its stupid.
you keep saying that i cant call us nice and talk about how proud i was of how we acted...where are the counterexamples. until you tell me something that one of us did that you witnessed you have no right saying we werent nice.
why are you not adressing your fans verbally attacking our cheerleaders? or them flipping us off? or them throwing things at us?

Sign of a good team; hopefully you'll make some noise in the NCAA for the league if you come out of the HL tournament. Thanks.........you are right, we did not play our best, but I think that has to do, at least in part, to the way LU played. They came out with a lot of confidence and really wanted it - we did not. Schlib is a great player, I do not look forward to seeing him the next two years. I knew you guys would be tough, but they way LU played last night was a bit more than I expected. I really think you guys have turned the corner and are on the right track......good luck the rest of the way. it has everything to do with your school, because Bruce Pearl is your coach, and he and Jimmy Collins each played a role in one of the most embarrassing chapters in recent NCAA history. I don't know if I would call it recent history, seeing as many of the "fans" at the game, including most of the ones chanting, were still in diapers when it happened.

Both Collins and Pearl still have most of their careers ahead of them; anything that they did in their relatively short tenures I'd have to consider "recent." It's a lot more recent than our National Championship; that's just history.
Homeboy, my final point I'll make on the subject is the same as the first; at no point did I make any disparaging remarks about your fans. I'm not going to, I have no reason or desire to do so. I merely said it was hippocritical to get upset at the actions at others while simultaneously acting the same way in your post. That's it.
Hope to get another shot at you guys in the tournament, good luck.

what a gutty, gritty performance last night. i had a terrible feeling going into that one and it was playing out about as i expected... and then the bench stepped in. wow, what an effort! when we demonstrate that kind of depth and do it on the road it speaks volumes. nobody will want to face that come tourney time. as for LU, they're MUCH improved. they're not a team i'd care to see again this year. and after reflecting on the other confernece teams, i think this league is probably a year away from being a very hotly contested and talented one. that's great to see.
big big win last night... GO PANTHERS

Guys, would it be any fun if the LU student section didn't fight back? Is it really that harmful that they threw yellow balls at you? Unless of course they were billards balls... So they flipped someone off and went cottage cheese on our cheerleaders, it's their bad... ...we went "Shoot 'em like a horse," a mistake which you guys corrected by not doing again. On tv I could definatly notice the Loyola fans drowning you guys out a bit, but I agree it may have helped create an even more hostile enviorment for the home team. Either way, let's just have fun with it, let's stop being so sensitive about things. I'm old. Sorry.

So are fans were classless, but chanting "braided mullet" was the epitome of class?
Look, I found that chant to be amusing, but don't pull the "holier than thou" stuff.
Look at any of the premier programs around the country and see what their fans do. They do their research and bring in things that a normal fan would not know/think of.
I have to say, the UWM student section this year was better than in years past. Two years ago and last year, you guys had some fans that were the most obnoxious I have ever seen. Maybe they didn't make the trip, or maybe they graduated. Point is this....Based on the past, I would say that your section is up there in terms of "most obnoxious." Based on last night, I would say that you guy are NOT at the top in terms of "most obnoxious."
I guess, just let things be. It was a good game...it was fun...we are not UIC.
That is all.
