hey would you guys happen to know about deonte tatum? he came to hawaii from the milwaukee area. he currently plays point guard for hawaii. Yea, we know about him. He played at a great HS program in Milwaukee. How is he doing? Looks like he is getting some minutes (20 ish a game) but isn't scoring much (less than 5 a game). For a guard, and a point at that, it doesn't look like he shoots the 3 well (0-13) or has a good assist-turnover ratio (1.11). Looking at your stats (quickly), it appears that you guys are pretty well balanced and play a lot of guys.....only 2 players average more than 25 minutes a game, and only 3 guys score in double figures - with the highest only being at 13ish a game.

you know the more i think about this game the more i really would like to go and see the game, but then the big reality stick comes in and cracks me across the face. And realize that i am still a poor college student. I got to say i think BBC would be a good place to catch the game.

If we win this one it would be our best win of the year. (That is not considering what we could do in the post-season.) Looks like they have a very balanced team and some of their best players are big. Julian Sensley might be better than Landry, they have a 7 footer who is coordinated, and they have a number of other guys who can play!
We are going to have to use our speed to get a lot of fast break points and to force some turnovers. Wonder if Sanders, Ford and McCoy will get some more playing time to try to match their size?

Does anyone know the deal with travel expenses for the Bracket Buster games? Does ESPN kick in a bit? I mean, I can't imagine being thrown a game like this (Hawaii) three weeks before and being told to pick up all the expenses (probably more than $1,000 per person when all is said and done). For example, our first BB game was a bus trip to Southern Illinois - obviously much less expensive. Do all BB team agree to kick into a kity and that is divided among traveling teams? Like I said before, I can't imagine that some of the anti-athletic types at UWM would just allow UWM to foot this bill..........maybe I am wrong........does anyone have any insights?

ESPN is paying for a pretty decent portion of the cost here, according to Bruce at last night's radio show.

we draw around 4500-5500. but the department is using a promotion for the game and if it gets nationally televised, i can pretty much say it would be a sell-out

in my own opinion, i think that we should have pulled a better team than Hawaii for the BB. I think that if we were going to get paired to any other team in the WAC it should have been elpaso. And i think that is still a weak pull for us. My # 1 reason that we should have pulled a better team is that, not one team in the WAC conference played a high ranked team, the best team taht EP played was texas tech and they got stomped! the rest of teh teams they played were far less than mediocore. i understand that some of the teams that we play are kinda a Joke, but we did play Kansas and uw madison this year. and loses to those teams only hurt our rpi. what is kinda messed up about the situation is if we wouldnt have played those teams this year and had played teams that we could have easily defeated, our RPI would be higher than it sits right now. and we probably would have pulled someone better than Hawaii. O well i am just complaining because i thought that we could have pulled someone a little tougher, i like to think of our school as a tough mid major, up to par with so so big ten teams. anyways, it should be fun for the guys to fly down to hawaii, hopefully they are not to distracted by all the hotties you guys have been posting on the site

Some of us need to come down off our high horses a bit. You're disappointed with the Hawaii pick and would've been disappointed with the UTEP pick too? Here's a glance at some of Hawaii's victories: Southern Ill. W 66-64 at Saint Louis W 53-52 St. Mary's W 84-77 Oral Roberts W 55-54 USC W 72-68 With close losses too: at Fresno St. L 78-79 at Nevada L 55-58 at UTEP L 70-71 How many victories over high-ranked opponents does UWM have? The BB people got this matchup right.

this is a very nice draw. when you look at the available home teams there aren't many more attractive than hawaii
UW-Milwaukee at Hawai'i Illinois State at UW-Green Bay UTEP at Pacific Vermont at Nevada Wichita State at Miami (Ohio) Southern Illinois at Kent State Drexel at Ball State Western Michigan at Northern Iowa Buffalo at Fresno State Arkansas-Little Rock at Bowling Green Murray State at Rice
pacific or nevada would have both been quality draws but hawaii is right up there. they play in a good conference and it will be a very nice non-conference return game next year. sure UTEP would have been great, but they are a road team this year. all in all i'm pretty happy about this one. this will be a great win for milwaukee if we can get it.

Thanks for the reality check, guys. Outside of perhaps Pacific or Nevada, I'm not sure we could have gotten a better draw. In addition, as has been pointed out on this site, the game fits our schedule better than perhaps anyone's. You have already pointed out the closeness of Hawaii's losses. Face it, the WAC right now is far superior to the Horizon League.
