I guess that is the rumor.
I personally love it. What a great selection if it proves accurate. Big, football conference, and we're playing the best team in their league on NATIONAL TV. (although pretty late). Hawaii is easily considered a mid major power. Bring em on!
IF this is true. Where is the late night viewing party? Turner Hall? ;D

Think the team might need an extra manager to tag along? ;D

If you think about it, it makes sense from a scheduling standpoint.
UWM probably had the most favorable schedule of any team possibly going to Hawaii since we don't play again until the 26th ... a week later. That way they'll have plenty of time to get their "legs" back under them.

CBS 58 just announced it, and coming up on the Bruce pearl show, I guess they discuss the match-up a little more

Well I'm assuming its going to be the midnight game on ESPN then ... I think Hawaii played AT Southern Illinois at midnight last year.
Just checked Travolcity ... anyone have $900 for a roundtrip flight from Chicago?

Hawaii is currently 12-5, but only 4-5 in the WAC. RPI is 92, so I can see why they matched us up.

I guess I'm confused about hawaii....they are 4-5 in the wac and 12-5 overall..they are tied for 6th in the conference.....why would we be place with a team with this type of record??? I mean, this is a team that does have a good overall record but if they don't win there conference tourney they aren't goin anywhere, and they lost to all of the major teams in there conference already...why aren't we facing a nevada team.??

The matchups are based on RPI. Our RPI's are similar and the WAC gets 2 games on TV this year and since UTEP is a road team, the 2 games will go to Nevada & Hawaii. On the plus side this game will be on ESPN. Hawaii is not bad, they have lost all their games by 4 or less points. Plus they have beaten Southern Ill., Oral Roberts, USC, St. Louis and St. Mary's. This should be a good Match-up. sports.espn.go.com/sports/tvlistings/schedule?date=20050220&network=1UWGB will also get a game on TV, since the HL gets 1 home team on TV. It looks like they will start out the BB with a game @ 11:00 on ESPN 2.

ALoha! very true our five losses had a combined total of 11 points. We lost a lot of heart breakers but also got lucky on a couple of our wins. This years team is very athletic and one of the tallest teams in Hawaii history. We also have a deep bench to go to. Four players consistantly contribute off the bench, with almost no drop off. We run a flex motion offense that hurt defenses that over play or are not patient. Please tell me a little about how your team is doing this year and any info that you can let us in on. I still haven't seen an official notice of our match up but will look forward to our first home bracketbuster game. We played on the road that last two years in a row. Hope to see you in a few weeks! maybe this might inspire you to come! Sports Angel of the week Merilee
