I was just on the espn web site, looking at predictions for march madness bracatology, and i saw us sitting as a 13 seed for the big dance, and this is when we had a 12-4 record! Not to shabby! does anybody still think that it is possible for us to recieve an at large bid? far fetched.......... but i think possible, ;D

With an RPI in the 70-90 range, an at-large is completely out of the question. We'd have to run the table to even be considered, which I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks is a possibility.
I think a 13 seed is about as high as we'll get. Assuming we'll lose at least another 1-2 games, I think a 14 is more realistic (collegerpi.com has us as a 14 seed).
But, our goal has always been getting back to the dance. Anything that comes after that, to me, is icing on the cake.

agreed 97, no at large bid will be coming from the Horizon League this year, not a chance. We need to win those two tournament games, period.
Even if we run the table (again what are the chances of that?) it doesn't look like enough. We need to spank that other Bracket Buster team on the road and maybe we get a 12 seed, maybe.

count me in as someone who thinks theres a shot at us winning out. The only games I would be concerned about are UIC and Butler but those aren't even that strong of concerns. The remaining schedule isn't tough at all.

The wins over South Dakota State and UW-Parkside do not count. P.S. Is it time we start eliminating or merging some of these forums? Don't we have a Bracketology thread elsewhere?

i know that i was being very optomistic when I was wondering possibilities of an at large . I do beleive possible that we are going to be able to sweep the rest of our conference games, we already played the toughest ones on the road, (uic, butler, and udm) I dont feel threatened by GB this weekend at all. With exceptions to the purde game and whom ever we pull in a braketbuster game, i am feeling very confident when i say " staying undefeated for the rest of the season is a great possibility for the panthers" we already have a 7 game winning streak, and a much improved defense from the beginning of the year!

That SDSU game should count for us.

It doesn't ... SDSU is provisional D-I this year ... It doesn't count for MU this year, either.

not to beat an old topic to death, but since i brought it up i kinda find it funny that MU will not play us but will play SDSU, i thought it was a waste, with no gains to play us....... Now im really confused....why play SDSU? where was the gain there

You must have forgotten that WSU had you (at home) on the ropes before choking in the last few minutes. A visit to WSU should concern you much more than Butler this year.

I worry about every game. But I do not think that an at-large bid is out of the realm of possibility.
We must win tonight to have any glimmer of hope, however.

It doesn't ... SDSU is provisional D-I this year ... It doesn't count for MU this year, either. Thank you for the clear up Hack. I guess an at-large bid isn't completly out of the question but they have to win at Purdue and at Bracket Buster and if they are going to lose the Championship game at home it better be to the second best team in the League... ...you have to remember for them to be considered for an at-large bid it will be on the heels of a loss at home to a marginal conference foe (because they all are bad in the RPI)... Everyone going to Purdue drive safe and bring home a win.

I throw caution to the wind as of right now...because the last time we were on a win streak, talking about at-large bids, and discussing which teams we weren't concerened about...we lost to Valpo!
A loss to Purdue is comparable to Valpo in my mind, based solely on poor records, however a win at Purdue speaks larger.
I vote "Hopes for a win" over "Expectations of a win", the team has just been too up and down this year.

UWMKrazie, i agree with you 100%, i am always hoping for a win, and i am also always scared when we step onto the court just because i hate to watch us lose sooo much! BUt.... at the same time there are games that i would like us to come away with ( like all of them ;D ;D) but seriously if we ever want to be considered a worth while mid-major team to play against, we absolutely nees to stop losing to teams like Write state, and need to pull off non conference wins..ie valpo! I think that we are out of the ? of an at large bid are rpi isnt that great and we have no way of really raising it anymore. we have no one left to play that has a strong rpi I am very confident that we will go into the horizon tourny and take it all... we have a great winning % since we moved into the cell.. and that is a huge advantage for us. Lets hope for a win tonight! Go panthers
