We are less than two weeks away from the Bracket Buster pairings from being announced (Jan. 30.
Where do you think UWM will be headed?
Possible UWM Bracket Buster Opponents
Mid-American Akron Ball State Bowling Green Central Michigan Kent State Toledo Miami (Ohio)
Missouri Valley Creighton Drake Evansville Northern Iowa Southwest Missouri State
Sun Belt Western Kentucky Middle Tennessee State
Western Athletic Boise State Fresno State Hawaii Nevada Rice Tulsa Louisiana Tech
Big West Pacific
Colonial Athletic George Mason
Metro Atlantic Athletic Fairfield
Southern College of Charleston
Best bets in my opinion where UWM will be headed -- Bowling Green, Northern Iowa, Nevada (I would like this ... Reno can be fun), Pacific, Fresno State or Rice.

I see them going to Pacific or Nevada or another team on the bubble for the NCAA tournment. I believe this will also be one of the games chosen to be played on ESPN or ESPN2. In fact, the only way (i believe) we don't make national tv is if we are not winning the horizon league outright the day of the announcement.
Remember, wherever UWM goes this year, is a home game next year!

Andy Katz believes our most likely opponent is Bowling Green, out of the MAC.

Bowling Green: 12-4, 6-2 Mid-American, not too sure how much I like that match up. RPI 82. We deserve better, but our RPI is keeping us down. I think we can win a game at Bowling Green. I guess I'll take it, but again, wish it was a team with a higher RPI.
Does this mean a TV game?
Thanks, UWMfreak

That's who I'm starting to believe it's going to be, too.

Katz did say he believed this matchup was worthy of a TV game.
He also thinks UWGB should get a TV game and has them playing Western Michigan. UWGB is hosting.

The more I think about this BB stuff, I think that UWM should just get out of it. If Bruce can put Purdue, UW, St. Louis, Valpo and Air Force on the sked without any help from the BB, why not just replace the two games a year it occupies (the back half of the home and home) with a couple games with better reputations. Win or Lose the BB game isn't going to do us any good this year, and playing Bowling Green at home next year isn't going to do us any good either.
Maybe I'm just frustrated.
Carry on, end of rant.

Yeah, getting a home and home with a quality opponent on our level. That's stupid. I'd rather see Texas-Pan American at home next year instead.[/sarcasm] Can you think of another way we would get an additional game on national TV? By my estimatation, we could be on national TV four times in a month's span. How many mid-majors get that? I think you're just frustrated. It happens, no biggie.

One more thing, if this d@mn BB thing doesn't even get us on national television, then it is really worthless in my mind.

It is only upsetting that UWGB has the opportunity for a better opponent given the fact that the away teams are stacked this year.
It is good however for the conference, at least we might have a homegame on TV.

It is only upsetting that UWGB has the opportunity for a better opponent given the fact that the away teams are stacked this year. I was just going to mention that point. It's an unfortunate break, but that's the way it's set up. Do you think next year they could not even determine who's home and away until the month before the games? That might make matchups a little more even.

Beating Bowling Green on the road isn't going to get us an At-Large Bid, but losing to Bowling Green will destory our chances.
Wouldn't you rather try to get another low level Big Ten school on the sked (maybe they won't take a dump and have a lower RPI than the BB game, ah hem, Purdue).
Low Blow on the MU comment! ;D
I'm just saying that if this BB thing is to be touted as something to give Mid-Majors more exposure and we don't get on TV I'd be pi$$ed!!!
I'm frustrated. I love the Panthers, I think this board is great. Alleluyah! Where's the Tylenol!

Beating Bowling Green on the road isn't going to get us an At-Large Bid, but losing to Bowling Green will destory our chances. I think losing on the road to Valpo and losing to a Detroit team with a losing record at home will have done more to destroy our chances than losing to Bowling Green. IMO, UWM isn't playing for an at-large ... they are playing for the HL tourney title and a better seed. You play the game. You may win, you may lose. That's what makes basketball fun. To say the whole Bracket Buster is a waste frankly is a dumb statement. IMO if we win Saturday, there's no way we aren't getting a TV game. Mark it down.
