hey does anybody know why williams didnt want us to grunt louder at the end of the game
Oh wait because he got too c***y and they choked, guess he should have grunted a couple more times.
They played bad and still won so we cant complain too much. Boyd however had ten fouls not five guarding ed tonight, he was holding him all night
go panthers

mcdadenets50 ....so much props to wright state......why not post on their message board....we won and thats it.......why give props to a team that loss.....i really dont get some of the fans on this site, when the panthers have a good game there all about them and then when something bad happens its like the end of the world.....we forgot to notice that we shot the ball decent, scoring was evenly distributed....ed had a great game again, came in huge in the clutch....chris struggle throughout the game but when it came to the end of the game our panthers played with heart...i think we all let the preseason ratings get to our head.....yes we arent that good as what people thought but were getting it done

jeff2bag...you're right. Props to a .500 team for coming in and playing us tough on the road. That's it. What's wrong with commenting on WSU under the WSU thread? This would be a thrilling board if all we did was praise the Panthers.
Your comments on UWM's performance were right on. Good game in the clutch when it was needed.

I don't want to hi-jack the thread or anything just continue the ticket pricing issue for a moment... ...I think something like that can change overnight, they should atleast throw an offer out there on the next televised game like the Bucks do, call the ticket office during this game (the tv game) and get two for 1 $10 seats, give it a try and see what the crowd turns out to be... ...I don't know, frankly I thought the crowd was decent and those that were there were into the game... ...and students don't worry about people giving you sh*t for trying to figure out some traditions, the Cameron Crazies weren't born overnight, I'm a bit too old to be screwing around over there but keep it up.

Gee, I sure do love it when people with a whopping 10 posts comes on here and complains about the content of the site. mcdade is right ... great heart from our guys for coming back, but that doesn't mean we can't be critical and also praise Wright State for playing well after a bad loss.

The poise we showed down the stretch is a testament to the toughness of this team. It would have been very easy to wilt away, but we didn't.
I think it's a characteristic of good teams in any sport. They find ways to win, even if they have been outplayed. That's exactly what happened last night.
This is a big win for this team.

Come guys where is the love?
Going into this game i thought this game would be a excellent practice for our team to run the balanced scoring between Joah and Ed and play just as we did against GB. Then i realized this game was a practice for the situation i like to call, "Crap! were still down by ten points and there is about 4 min left!"
I am glad we won the game but I am worried about the fatigue level these guys are going to start facing. In my head, i plane on the reserves playing at the end of the game and everyone taking away an easy win. However, the guys had to play their hearts out for the last 5 mins. Hopefully against Cleave St this thurseday we will be able to play our guys less and use the bench more in order to keep rested for our road game against Detroit.
Scoring was rather imrpessive even though it seemed like we didnt score for the last 10 min of the 1st half and the first 10 min of the second half. 46% in the paint and 39% beyond the arch is nothing to frown upon.
Turn overs - UWM turned over the ball more than i would of liked to see. Most of it was just absent minded passing. But life will go on. I think derek ford is a going to at least going to need the rest of the season to realize he just needs to go on his tip toes be eye level with the hoop.
Props to the student section. Once again even though attendence does met other peoples standards the student section made a wonderfull impact. For those of you who did not get to speak with the band director about Williams mother, just remeber its not unclassy if Williams mother told us for a fact. For future games we should take some mental prep on who were going to banter and how.
Anyways, low attendance or no attendance for the people who do show up you can make the cell still be crazey. Hackpanthers post should warrent reason for this. At first he thought there was more students only to be dissapointed with 2800 people. The best thing we can do durring the game is to get those students out of their seats and into the cell block screaming into the other teams ear. But dont expect everyone to want to stand and be roudy. Maybe they like sitting and being chill. Something ive been seeing. When players argue with each other and they cant hear each other they just get even more frustraited. If a player looks you down, smile and say thank you for letting me in your head.
Oh, and dont forget to cheer for your own team. In a classier sense thats what we should be doing. But that doesnt mean we can not tell Williams we took his mother out for a seafood dinner and never called her again.

"Going into this game i thought this game would be a excellent practice for our team" Who do we think we are? I love this team as much as anyone on the board, but we are in no position to take ANY game for granted. We are too inconsistent on offense and have very little post game. If we are having an off night shooting we can lose to anyone - CSU and YSU included. That being said if we are having a good night shooting we should take care of every team in this conference.

Woooahhhhhh, Who do i think i am. I am thor god of war!
Man, switch to decafe. Yes i thought we would handle Wright St with ease. Deal with it. I did not post anything about how the game would be easy, i did not tell anyone that they can skip the game because we would blow them out. It was just my perception that UWM was going to be in a good rythem and looking forward to using our startes less because we have a long playing week. Uhhhhhh.
The vegas line had by 12.
Did i say my original anaylsis was sound and completly right. Im not here to ask for your guidance in these issues. In the student section itself, well felt like we were winning the game even when we were losing. I do not speak for our whole section but the people i was around, we were all feeling that way.
Please give me something better to talk about. You have a whole post which includes discussions about crowd discourse, shooting percentages, when will derek ford will start acting his size, the panthers long schdeul this week, and coping with low attendence. And you decide to quote my introduction. Its things like this that turn people away from the board and make them feel like they should not be apart of.
This is the second time ive had to defend a post based off the introduction and something that is way irrelevent to the topics of this thread. You wanna know why i thought that ask me personally, if you saw joey and his roomates and my roomates you would know why. Did you see the guy with like 30 ballons on his head. There was a reason why we were so optimistic.

Last night was a great win for UW-Milwaukee. WSU is starting to fall behind in the title race. Events would have to go perfectly in their favor for them to be still be considered "in the hunt." UWGB, UDM, and UWM are clearly the front runners for the regular season title. I think the separation from the rest of the pack has been made.
The Horizon League Tourny will be interesting. Along with the 3 top regular season teams, I would add UIC and WSU into the mix for the automatic birth. These two teams could pull the upset. That is why we need to keep winning, especially against our remaining non-conference teams. Pull a good bracket buster game and beat Purdue, then the at-large bid is still within reach.
The attendance last night was horrid. Low-Major horrid. I think overall our attendance will be down this year compared to the last 2 seasons. Our only hope of raising our average will be to host the HL tourny, which I think we will draw a solid 8,000-9,000 per game. Part of the problem is simply the conference we are in. Although I dont think joining the MVC would suddenly change the 3,000 average attendance.
The student section has been excellent the past two games. Now we just need numbers.
Later, UWMfreak

I never said I was disappointed in the student section turnout.
I was disappointed in 2,800 for a game in a 11,000-seat arena.
More 2-for-1 deals must be worked out ... hell, even start giving tickets away if it puts butts in the seats. Once they get in the door, you can still make money back from concessions.
Or even next year, start offering four- or five-game packs ... instead of either getting a full season ticket package or nothing.

WOW what a game! It got kind of crazy when we were down by 10! But the student section and even the rest of the cell got loud and the Panthers made an exciting run back. Ed was grwat in the closing minutes both on defense and offence. The student section was kind of weak but what do you expect for a Monday game, right after a weekend game, in the middle of Winter break. Boo Davis has been playing great lately, which is really good to see. Great win but we have some work to do!

UWM is in no position to think of ANY game as "practice" ... and its fans shouldn't think that way either.

what a furious come back. you have to give this team major props for being so resilient! i attribute much of that performance last night to fatigue. they've played a lot of games in a short amount of time and it's starting to show... poor rebounding, missed shots (no legs). they just looked tired for 3/4's of the game. but in the end, you saw their conditioning and the effects of playing high-majors kick in. they gutted one out when they needed to and it was fun to watch. hopefully they get some much needed rest and will be ready to reload against CSU. the shedule is pretty relentless after thursday so we'll see what this team is made of. but if we've learned anything this year, you just can't count this team out, ever... they almost pulled off the comeback against Detroit even. hopefully they'll avoid putting themselves in that position from here on out.
as for attendance, sadly it's what i expected. unfortunately it doesn't take many excuses to keep people away from these games. which is really unfortunate considering the style and quality of ball being played. it takes a while for this town to come around to anything so it's no surprise people aren't quick to jump on our bandwagon. but it will happen in time if we keep playing at this level. i will be dissapointed if we don't get nice turnouts for UIC and Butler... especially UIC as that's an EPSN2 game.
GO PANTHERS!!!
