The GB win was nice, but now it is time to turn the focus to Wright State. They shot the ball poorly against Loyola and lets hope this continues today. The last time Wright State had 1 day to prepare ofr a team, they beat Detroit by 6. This needs to be a statement game for UWM too. The key to this game will be Woods vs Hill. I have been critical of Hill in the past, but at this point in time, is there a PG in the league that is playing better than Hill. In 6 conference games hill has a mind boggling 24 assists and 3 turnovers, Thats a 8.0 ratio, the next best player (Mendiburu) has a 1.80 assists to turnover ration.
I am interested to see Williams play. I wonder if Bruce will change the starting lineup to have Wright play him off the tip or will he have Tigert guarding him from the tip. My gut feeling is that he will be going with the same starting lineup that has UWM on the four game run and we will see James sub into the game around the 17:00 - 18:00 minute mark.
Vegas opened up with UWM - 13 and now it is down to - 12. I don't know if UWM can play much better than they did on Saturday. Hopefully Pancratz hitting some shots game hjim some confidence because he should see some open looks with teams focusing on Ed and Joah.
Prediction: UWM - 81 WSU - 69

I am interested to see how we hold up if this game stays close down the stretch.
We pressed VERY HARD on Saturday, and I don't think its unlikely that our guys come out slightly flat and/or tired.
This is a statement game for us, in that we need to prove our conditioning and drive. I like the -12 line, but feel that we will either cover, or lose.

He is playing some great ball right now, no doubt about it. Hopefully Pancratz hitting some shots game hjim some confidence because he should see some open looks with teams focusing on Ed and Joah. It was great to see Mark shoot (and make) a three. I was beginning to think maybe he had some kind of "Sanders shoulder issue" that kept him from shooting shots outside the lane. j/k Prediction: UWM - 85 WSU - 72

We win this one in a 'grinder' type, as much as we could have a 'grinder' type, I see a 64-57, not as close as it looks final.
Both teams have off shooting nights but we simply out talent them... ...just my prediction.

Well, I thought we might still be riding a high from the GB game and be able to jump on WSU from the get go......I was wrong. My hats go off to the Raiders, they gave us all we could handle. I almost feel like we stole one on the road. With the exception of the first few minutes and the last few minutes, WSU was in very good shape. They just didn't seem to have the experience/composure to right the ship when they needed to. On the flip side, I think that this game is a result of the tough non conference schedule that we played. The chips were down, but the guys knew (and believed) that they were not out of it. They kept their cool, made plays, and got back on the right side of the scoreboard.....Great game Panthers! One more this week!
By the way, how was the crowd? Student section?

Wow.... we played pretty well in the first half but then we had about a 15 minute stretch in the beginning of the second where they took it to us. Great game at the end and way to pull one out PANTHERS

Well a win is a win. I don't think Milwaukee should have pulled that one out, however I suppose being at home, and Wright State's lack of leadership payed of big. Anyone know how what Zach Williams and Paul Biancardi were arguing about with around 5 minutes left? It must have been something that set Zach off because he leveled Chris Hill with about 5 seconds left and Bruce went storming onto the floor to keep williams from squashing Hill. anyway, a win is a win
GO PANTHERS!

Played well in the first half? More like first 10 minutes.
From the 10-minute mark of the first half to about 5 minutes left in the game, I felt UWM relied TOO much on a perimeter offense AGAIN.
When did UWM start making its run? When it started working the ball into the paint ... for either layups or drawing fouls. Then that opened up Ed for better looks from the outside.
Props to the guys for hitting their free throws ... Ed, Boo, AT, etc. The press finally started to wear Wright State down ... I think Wood played all 40 minutes. Other than that, Wright State broke it really well. And got too many offensive boards and converted ... which disappointed me. At least UWM was boxing out well on the missed free throws.
Crowd was average, but I wasn't expecting much for a Monday night game in sub-zero weather with no advertising/promotion of it whatsoever. Students, although small, were into it from the start. Took us "old" guys until the run to really get us going ... but it sure got loud in a hurry.
Finally ... Can someone tell me when a 6-foot-10, 240-pound center gets the ball one foot from the basket, why does he decide to pass it out right into an opposing player?
Overall, good comeback from a bad situation. Yes, it does feel like we stole one.

Sat right behind Coach Biancardi and never heard so many f bombs from a bench before. We literally thought Williams was going to deck one of the assistants. He had to be restrained by another and then tried to put himself back into the game! Bizarre. If I remember correctly (and I probably don't) Williams threw the ball away after a timeout. He came to the bench yelling at one of the assistants to get off his back because it wasn't he who ran the wrong play. Biancardi stayed out of the mess for the most part. Williams had one heck of a scary look in his eyes.
WSU should have won that game. Too much perimeter offense put us in a hole. Props to the Raiders for running good sets, getting to the boards, and #1 Wood is a tough player who can penetrate...even if he does carry the ball every possession.

Take that back what I said about the attendance ... 2800??
Sad. ... I'll take the outside factors into consideration, but I'm starting to get frustrated.

Attendence was bad, but the crowd that was there was pretty alive. Freezing Monday night.
Frankly put, ticket prices are too high for these games, you should be able to get in for $5-$7... ...better deals like 2 for $10 nights and weekdays would bring out some people, I would think...
Either way, what a great game, hung tough, big home win against a decent team... great finish.

I know we all want to see the cell packed with people. But we have to face the fact that the Panther's aren't the team on everyone's mind. They will become more and more each year as long as they continue to play strong.
Right now you are def not going to see a large student turnout with 50% of the student body not in Milwaukee.
Yeah cheaper tickets would help with getting people to the games. It isn't going to happen over night, the best you can do is promote the Panthers.
