Not to rain on the attendance parade, but official attendance was filed at 5,200 something....nevertheless still a good turnout. Again, rather than seeing the empty seats, think back to where the program has been not even 5 years ago and you'll see this is an excellent number considering the cold, no school in session, the "norm" for average college DI bball. The growth shall continue.... As the PA guy says, keep it up!

Also, it was an afternoon game. I wouldn't doubt some college students overslept. ;D

yeah, i hate to rain on the parade as well, but i was dissapointed to see over 3,000 less people than last year... especially with first place on the line. but it's true, we've come a long way over the years. i certainly have it all in perspective as i've been going to games for over 10 years now and remember crowds of 500 in the arena. that was rough. but the fans that were there were great. it felt like a crowd of 8,000 plus... and hopefully all the new people that showed up will spread the word about what an entertaining team we have to watch. looking forward to another good performance tonight!

This is all true, it was bitter cold and the game was on regional TV, but last year's game was on local TV and still over 8,500 people showed. There was nothing going on at the Bradley Center at the same time -- no Bucks game, no Admirals game, no concert. As a comparison, we drew 4,700 for the Loyola game last Saturday with a Bucks game being played right across the street. Loyola is frankly nowhere near the draw that GB is. If the crowd had been around 7,000 or so, I wouldn't be nearly as concerned. Let's not sugarcoat this, it was a poor turnout. BP himself has professed disappointment with the crowd size. Of course, it's a marked improvement over what we used to draw. Then again, everything is an improvement over 1993-98.

It sure felt like more than 5,200.
I agree the timing of the game was a factor, as was the weather. I don't think very many people were too interested in going out in the cold.
Despite the attendence, the game atmosphere was great. There was a certain buzz walking into the Cell that I haven't felt yet this year.

No question, the atmosphere on Saturday was great and a actual crowd of 5,200 is louder than an announced crowd of 15,000 at any other Milwaukee arena. A special tribute to the students who did show. Your cheers were very audible up in the 400 section! "You're not our rival!" was a special favorite.

I was in madison this weekend and watched the game on FSN. It looked like a lot more people than 5000 so at least it looked decent on tv. This was the first time i had seen the home arena on TV with the new court. I thought it looked awesome. A lot better than Klotsche would have looked on tv. Also i dont know if anyone else was able to watch the broadcast but the annoucers on FSN were excellent i thought. Very Knowledgeable and a very good crew. The one guy even repeated at the end that UWM is the best team in the horizon Hands down. I agree when every one is on, there is not better team in the horizon.
Great win lets get another
Go Panthers
