I didn't want to start this thread, but I believe it has to be done. Over the past year, I have noticed that certain people are quick to point fingers at the administrative part of the basketball program. Certain things as attendance, and the time and location of the radio show, promotions, all the things that fall into this catergory are constantly being criticized. And not to be mean about this, but I don't think half of you that do the finger pointing know what it takes to run a D1 basketball program. It all trickles down from above. Starting with the budget. ALUMNI supprt, student support, available funds for advertising and promotions, other events in the city and so on. It is not the University's job to make sure everyone knows when the radio show is. And believe me, with the money available to the school, I would say that they are doing a pretty good job of getting the word out. Not many mid-major programs have their coaches on their own tv shows, and radio shows, and guest appearances.
So maybe instead of criticizing the situation, we start supporting our program, you know, the guys who actually play and coach the basketball front of things? I remember just a few years back when we were lucky to get 1000 people at any game of the year. Please, don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution. Support the team and the University win lose or draw.
p.s. For all the "diehard" panther fans out there, there are other sports at this university. When was the last time they were supported? or written about in the press? Last time I checked, they were all D1 athletes too.
sorry for my rant, GO PANTHERS!!
