Hey UWM guys. I just wanted to say that it was a MEMORABLE game. You guys did awesome. It was physical and rough through the whole game, and the refs really screwed it up with bad calls (and sometimes NO calls when there should've been) for both teams.
I just want to be a good representative of UIC and wish you all good luck in the NIT.
Also, I understand all the negative things that both sides did at this game, but what can you say, this is all part of a healthy rivalry.
Page and McCants--they were incredible. If Page hit half of his free throws, however, you guys would've had this game. However, like you all wanted it, Martell Bailey had an extremely weak game--0 points and only 3 assists. It was up to everyone else to step up and take the game over.
Overall, I think the better of us two got the win, and although I may be biased since I'm a UIC student, we will definitely represent the Horizon League well in the NCAA Tourney. Just hope we get at least a #12 seed since we're coming into the tournament so hot.
GO UIC FLAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. - it kinda seemed that our UIC student section was as loud as the whole arena. Only 3 or 4 times through the whole game did the entire Milwaukee supporters ROAR with full power. The rest of the game was OWNED by the UIC student section...
Again, great game. Lets look forward to these games next year...

Now, now! No way is this whole loss blameable on Page or anyone else. It was a team lose and yeah it sucks, but by no means was it one players fault. I remember seeing everyone miss shots. Great season Panthers, Good Luck in the NIT! GO UWM!!!

I'm not going to pin the entire loss on Page either (Ed, Joah, Adrian, Nate all missed their share of free throws) ... but even Dylan will admit it was a poor performance at the worst time.
It was just frustrating to see how well UWM was shutting down Banks and Bailey, yet UWM didn't exploit that.

Hey Mayur,
What do you mean if Page hit half of his free thows, you guys would have won the game?? Page did make half of his throws, he was 3 - 6. IMO there is no way UIC beat us, we beat ourselves with 12 missed free throws and 16 turnovers.

Sorry, I meant the UWM team, not just Page, in free throw shooting. UIC is supposed to be the sucker of the Horizon League in FTs, but I guess that wasn't the case last night.
I thought there were supposed to be an enormous UWM student turnout? It might have been bigger than UIC's, but definitely not by much...
Anyways, I hope you guys get Marquette in the NIT. Go Panthers!

I thought there were supposed to be an enormous UWM student turnout? It might have been bigger than UIC's, but definitely not by much... Did you go to the same game I went to? Seriously, the UWM student section was twice as full as the UIC student section - many more students and packed in much tighter. I will be the first to admit that I was surprised to see how many UIC students actually showed up, and how loud they were (a tribute to your program), but to say that the actual number of students for each school were similar is not even close to being accurate.

I thought there were supposed to be an enormous UWM student turnout? It might have been bigger than UIC's, but definitely not by much... UWM students outnumbered UIC students 4 or 5 to 1 from my seat ... UWM students were all the way up into the 300 level (blue seats) in the end zone. But I give UIC students credit ... they were loud and even though they were small in number compared to UWM, sometimes that can be more favorable. More organization with cheering. You probably couldn't tell how packed in they were from your end. Similar case when UWM was at UIC in February. If you were there, you will admit UWM's contingent of 400 or so drowned out anything UIC fans were doing (with the exception of the stomp maybe). I didn't even realize UIC had a student section at the game until they rallied from the 10-point deficit in the second half.

Go Panthers! Its nice that you are saying kind words but you are off base a bit here...and, Im sure the UIC section SEEMED louder because you were sitting in it. However, there were about 500 UIC student tickets sold...Around 1,500 UWM student tickets sold. So, not really close there. Furthermore, UWM students paid for theirs while the UIC Administration had to buy tickets for their kids and then give them out. Nothing like paying kids to come to a game. However, I do think UIC is a better basketball team than UWM. Not by much, but a little. Good luck in the NCAA's.

It probably seemed like the UIC student section was bigger to me since I was in there. Maybe if you got a birds eye view of the arena, you could really tell who was bigger... "Similar case when UWM was at UIC in February. If you were there, you will admit UWM's contingent of 400 or so drowned out anything UIC fans were doing (with the exception of the stomp maybe). " Yeah right! You didnt drown anything out at that game. You guys were loud only coming into the 2nd half with UWM's big lead. The rest of the game was ours, and thats expected since it was our home court. Doesn't "Go home Cheeseheads" sound familiar? We did that through almost the entire 2nd half! I guess it just seems like your group is louder than the rest since your sitting in that section. Thats probably what happened to me, thinking that the UIC section at the Cell was louder than everyone else since I was right there in the middle of all the red. Anyways, lets hope UIC gets a #12 seed bid. A #12 is definitely possible of upsetting a #5, but a #13 to #4 is just a tad bit far fetched (but still possible)... I doubt the NCAA selection committee will actually recognize us though... They are to busy trying to seed the big-named schools that they just throw random of the remaining seeds to the mid-majors...

I was proud to see all the UWM students there to back the Panthers. Even though it wasn't the best game for anybody, even if the players admit it, we are proud of you! GO UWM!!!

The rest of the game was ours, and thats expected since it was our home court. Doesn't "Go home Cheeseheads" sound familiar? We did that through almost the entire 2nd half! That's what I implied in my post. Your fans ... and your student section included (which if remember correctly was seated for the first part of the game) was really silent in the first half, with the exception of when Bruce got run. I'm not saying you weren't loud in the second half when UIC rallied. As far as seeding goes, I think UIC is looking at no better than a 13 seed ... largely due to strength of UIC's schedule. Games against UC-Irvine (11-17), Oakland (13-17), Mercer (12-18), Evansville twice (7-22), Illinois State (10-19), Eastern Illinois (6-21) are really going to hurt. Only decent non-conference games against major conference teams were against Big Ten teams: Northwestern (13-14) and Illinois (22-5) ... and the Big Ten had it's worst year in recent memory, so I don't think that will help much. The reason why UWM's RPI has been as high as it has been all year and still near UIC's despite having three more losses is largely due to strength of schedule. Wisconsin, NC State, Valparaiso, Air Force, Santa Clara and Southern Illinois were all near or at the top of their respective conferences ... and even though most of those were losses for UWM, they were all close games ... with the exception of the Air Force and Wisconsin games.

MAYRU is correct. This game is going to be one of the more memorable hl championship ones for years to come. I see UIC being a 13 or 14 seed, but they are a dangerous team that has the capability to make some noise in the tournament. Their team seems to finally be living up to their potential. Their student section was much bigger than I had expected, but didnt seem to be as loud. All in all it was a good game. I know all you complain uwm is "classless, pathetic, a bad school ect" but I think that this is a good rivalry building between two of the top schools in the Horizon League. While UIC is the team I love to hate, I wish them the best in the NCAA's. Make the HL look as good as possible.

Couple of things reguarding attendance. On the UIC side you had a bunch of chairs, on the UWM side it's stand-on platforms which pack in a hell of a lot more students and it's obvious on the game tape I have. Also, why are the UIC fans breaking their arms to pat themselves on the back for having so many show up? They got free tickets and bus rides for god's sake. The game was here and UWM students bought all of their tickets.

Two reasons why the tickets/transportation were free for UIC students:
1) We played a garbage team. 2) It's in Milwaukee. Who the hell wants to be in Milwaukee? Almost as bad as Canada.
Lol, respond to this accordingly.
