The large amount of people there was awesome as far as how it looked and the amount of noise we made...the people that acted like complete morons though I could do without and I agree with Freak that these situations have to be handled all while not discouraging students to come to games and cheer for our team.

Here is my take on the situation. Before tip off even started I was ashamed. Number one you do not sing along to the national anthem when someone else is singing it. You just dont do that. However, not only were they singing, there were people behind me...one of them my bandwagon roomate, one of them a basketball player who couldnt sit with the team were constantly shouting lines from the Dave Chappel show. When the game was under way I felt things with the student section were cool except for the booing of UIC's cheeleaders and such, but I dont find that to be a big deal because their cheeleaders do taunt the fans by slowing down in front of the student section. After the game I was completely embarrassed and it makes me re-think the type of class we have at this school. Throwing stuff onto the floor is just plain unacceptable. Bruce himself seemed to be babysitting us during the national anthem and after the game...I could tell he was embarrassed as well. I think it would be a good idea to have seating assignments and do it like Madison does...have an onsale date for season ticket holders that are students.....have them wait in line for a week or longer for tickets....number one it will create a little buzz around campus, and I think it could boost attendance if people realize that if they want a good seat at the games they have to show up to get season tickets. Assigned seating is what we need to be honest so we can at least maybe get the fair weather fans in the back.....I am ashamed almost a week after the fact and it will be in my mind and on my concience until things get resolved.
